Customer Reviews for Kregel Publications Amon's Adventure

Kregel Publications Amon's Adventure

When Jotham is accused of a terrible crime, his 13-year-old son, Amon, races to save him. Along the way Amon joins the crowds on Palm Sunday, outwits Roman soldiers who plan to kill his father and Jesus, witnesses Judas's betrayal, and beholds Christ's crucifixion. End-of-chapter meditations make this ideal for family Lenten devotions. 208 pages, softcover from Kregel.

This is another excellent book that has helped us prepare for the upcoming Easter celebration, like his others do to lead us through the Advent season. We have all 4 of his books now and they are favorites, getting read over again year after year -- even by my now teens! (We started them as read alouds when they were small.) I can't recommend them highly enough. You won't regret this purchase.

My family is reading this book right now as we prepare for Resurrection Sunday and we are so enjoying it! My children ages 7-16 all look forward to me reading it before bed each night. We love these stories because the writing is so descriptive you feel as if you are there. Last night they were excited because they knew it was Jesus riding into Jerusalem.

Mr. Arnold Ytreeide has given us another excellent book to help focus our attention on what is truly important about the holidays. We started out with Jotham's Journey and Bartholomew's Passage, both advent devotionals, which as a mom, I loved the way the children could relate to the Bible through a story format. I was very excited to find that Mr. Ytreeide had written Amon's Adventure focusing on lent/Easter, and was not a bit disappointed in the quality of this devotion as well. I would highly recommend these devotions to anyone wanting to draw their children and families close to Jesus during these two important holidays.

This is the best book for a family to go through during lent. Our grandchildren are thrilled with the book and all adults learn something from it also. Advent and Lent are our most favorite holidays because of the Arnold Ytreeide books.

We received "Jotham's Journey" as a Christmas gift from friends over 10 years ago & it has been an Advent tradition to read it to our 6 children & now 2 grandchildren ever since. It takes a true Master Storyteller to intertwine the lives & characters in these books the way that the author does. Each year we wait with great anticipation to read one of these wonderful stories during our Christian holiday times.

After having enjoyed Ytreeide's Advent stories for several years, I was excited to learn that he had written one for Easter. My family and I couldn't wait to get started. This book was everything we could have expected and more. Ytreeide's storytelling ability is amazing. Highly recommended! Now will he be able to pull off another one?!

We were not disappointed. This new book lives up to it's previous stories. The way they build upon each other is wonderful. The kids stay glued to every word. I am very much hoping the series goes on and on. Many thanks to the author for such an impacting series of books.

This book is great. We have read another of Arnold Ytreeide's books, "Bartholomew's Passage", for Advent, and were looking for something similiar for the Lenten season. The story grabs our attention from the start, and at the end of every chapter, my family begs for more. There is a Bible verse and short devotional at the end of each chapter, drawing our attention to what we can learn from what we've read.

We love every book written by Mr. Ytreeide. They are captivating and exciting and bring so much meaning to our lent season and advent season. I can not say enough about these books! My children beg for me to keep reading each day when we reach the end of a chapter. I would highly recommend these books!

Amon's adventure is an exciting read. We haven't finished the book yet, but it's so neat how the characters tie in with the other advent books. I love the way the setting & plot brings to life the way of life in Israel during the time Jesus was on Earth and how the main character ends up being connected to the main point of the book which is the Easter story. I also like the explanation of Lent at the beginning of the book, it's a great opener for discussion.

i was so excited when i saw that another book from Arnold Ytreeide was out.
this one is probably the best out of the four that he has written.
i especially liked the way that he blended the Bible's unnamed people with his characters.
buy it, it will not disappoint
