By looking at what Jesus had to say to the early churches we can see the same situations existing today and how to correct them. And then there is The Age To Come which gives us a picture of our new home. It is worth the time to sit and study this book and Sue Edwards has given us a marvelous tool in this study book. I recommend this book highly.

Sue Edwards has more than thirty years of experience into the classroom as a Bible teacher, curriculum writer, and overseer of several megachurch women's ministries. She serves as minister to women at Irving Bible Church and director of women's ministry at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas.

Her newest book in the Discover Together Series is an inductive study of Revelation. It is a nine lesson study covering the first three chapters and last two chapters of Revelation. Although not a comprehensive study of the book, Edwards offers great insight into the seven churches and our future in God's kingdom.

If you are looking for an in-depth study of Revelation, you won't find it in this book; however, if you are looking for something basic to guide you into a knowledge of God's message to the seven churches and how you can apply them to your life. Edwards doesn't give you the answers, but she helps you discover them for yourself–a valuable tool in further Bible study.

I particularly enjoyed the digging deeper exercises which take you to other scriptures to further help you apply what you learn to your life. Revelation, as Edwards' points out, is often used as a source for end times study; however, it contains so much information about how we should prepare for eternity in our heavenly home not just for the end of our earthly home.

Edwards' intentions are for this book to be used primarily in a small group as her passion is to bring women together through a study of God's Word and let them learn together. It works well as an individual study; however, you will miss out on some great discussion opportunities.

Each of the nine lessons is formatted for optional levels of study based on individual lifestyles and time available. These options include: Basic Questions, a short video clip, inspirational sidebars, a passage for committing to memory, and final thoughts for further meditation. The Digging Deeper questions encourage the use of additional resources; A Bible dictionary, concordance, and atlas.

Edwards concentrates her study on the first three and the last two chapters of the book of Revelation. Chapters one through three reveal the resurrected Christ in His letters to the first-century churches and chapters twenty-one and twenty-two are filled with promise as John relates Jesus' description of our final redemption, our eternal home, and the guarantee of His soon return.

"Revelation: A Discovery Together Bible Study" emphasizes a women's viewpoint; however, anyone looking for a inductive Bible study with personal application for our contemporary lifestyles, or a deeper devotional life will find the study both adaptable and practical.

While I enjoyed the content of this study, I was sad to find that pages of my book began falling out before I was half way thru the course. When checking with others in the class, I found most were having this problem. The book is poorly constructed - and it's not an inexpensive book.
