Kathi Lipp's, The Marriage Project: 21 Days to More Love and Laughter is a refreshing way to build fun and intimacy into your marriage. Lipps intends to help you create more joy, fun, love in your marriage. Before digging into the "projects" the author builds a foundation of why we should be intentional about marriage, prepping for the projects, how to handle rough spots along the way, learning to date again, and 20 dates for less than $20 all before the fun begins. Lipp encourages spouses to go through the book and the projects together, but also encourages you to do the project on your own as an "an act of worship" to your spouse. This theme runs throughout her book, as she reminds us how we should esteem and love our husbands and wives. Lipp has included personal stories meant to encourage you before and during your 21 days. I really liked the honesty of chapter 10 "But my marriage isn't so hot". If you are feeling like you are having a hard time mustering up the desire to do your projects, or fearing that you will somehow "fail" at creating more love in your marriage read this chapter. This book is an easy read and the author has done most of the homework for the reader, so that you can focus on doing the projects rather than thinking them up. The projects range from spending just 30 minutes together, to cooking together, creating a Hallmark Holiday, writing down what you like about your spouse, Lingerie, and more. Each project is packed full of items to help you through like: purpose of the project, prayer, creative ideas to make the project your own, and stories from past women and men who have completed that project, and a place to journal your own story or reaction.

Shes talking to me. That was my exact thought as I read Kathi Lipps witty and action-inspiring book, The Marriage Project: 21 Days to More Love and Laughter. And who doesnt want a little more love and laughter in life, by the way?Kathi Lipp writes with such a candid, humorous flare, I had to keep reminding myself I dont actually know her in person. Her humility and eagerness to build a lasting marriage remind me of some of my dearest friends. One of those friends is the man I married. We read the book together. I loved how Kathi divided The Marriage Project into two parts, one part devoted to preparing for the projects and the other part for implementing and acting on each project. Understanding the idea behind 21 days, the amount of time it takes to make or break a habit and reading about seeing my spouse through new eyes got my ramped up and ready to do the projects with my husband. And why did we decide to do the projects together? Kathi provides the answer. We can talk about marriage all day long. We can buy books and listen to podcasts about how we should have great marriages. We can listen to sermons and do Bible studies. But unless we put some God-acts to our God-talk, no one benefits. And now you want to know if it worked. Heres how Ill answer that. Yes. I wholeheartedly recommend this book. Marriage is work. Ive never been shy about admitting that before and I feel no need to be now. Add three little kids on top of that and a recent death in the family and it becomes even more work. We dove into The Marriage Project at an ideal time. Our marriage needed some creativity and we needed to get intentional about our time together. The Marriage Project encouraged us with very specific and fun ways to reconnect. The result: we bonded. We loved and laughed a little more and for that Im deeply grateful.

Not just a book for women, Kathi Lipp provides a how-to plan for both husband and wife to spend twenty-one days focusing on the love and fun in their marriage. This plan is not about fixing your spouse, but about growing together through love and laughter.Twenty-one days is not so long to commit to a project, but long enough, Kathi Lipp hopes, to form new habits that will last beyond the twenty-one days. Through daily projects (ideas for being more intentional about marriage), weekly projects (date nights) and bonus projects (sex), Kathi Lipp provides ideas for both husbands and wives to bless each other in simple yet powerful ways, leading to More love, more laughter more lingerie! The Marriage Project is an easy read filled with Kathi Lipps fun and humorous voice and stories. These projects can be tailored to almost any situation, including parents with young children or married couples who need to stick to a tight budget. I have already tried a couple of the daily projects, even though my sweetie and I have not yet planned out our twenty-one day project.I enjoyed reading The Marriage Project , look forward to working through it with my sweetie, and would recommend it for any married couple.Thank you to Kathi Lipp for providing me with a free copy of this book to review.

In her fun and helpful book The Marriage Project, Kathi Lipp suggests putting your marriage on project status for 21 days that is, making it a priority for both spouses to do one thing every day to strengthen your marriage and put the fun back in it. For each day there is a manageable project, a little background on the reasoning behind that project, some testimonials from couples who tried it, a prayer suggestion, and a place to record your reaction/response to the project. Kathi suggests making a detailed plan in advance so you can put the projects on your calendar, which I think goes a long way toward actually getting them accomplished if youre busy and tired like most of us are.I thought the projects seemed doable and worthwhile - like making a point to do something you enjoyed doing together before you got married, cooking together, writing down things you appreciate or admire about your mate, taking over a duty your spouse dislikes or is burnt out from, and so forth. Basically its about making time for your spouse and putting more effort into your marriage. I think any marriage could benefit from a short project like this.Kathis writing style is funny and laid-back, so I think youll find the book enjoyable and a fun read. The Marriage Project is not a theological treatise on marriage, or a theoretical book about the institution, rather its a very practical set of things you can actually do starting today to make your marriage stronger, no matter what point youre starting from. I found the book very hopeful and helpful and I would recommend it to you even if youve been blessed with a solid marriage.

"Intentional" is the key word that Lipp brings to mind again and again, as she outlines three weeks' worth of projects for you and your spouse to complete. While many of the suggestions are likely activities that spouses are already doing (like completing a household chore together, having a movie night, working out together, etc), the overall spirit of the book is that we should be intentional and deliberate about how we choose to interact and spend time with our spouses. Using humor and drawing from her own experience as a busy mother/wife/author, Lipp presents each of the twenty-one suggested activities along with a short description of the different ways you can complete each project. The great theme of the entire project is intentionally and purposefully carving time out of your schedule every day for one-on-one time with your spouse -- something that every couple, no matter how long they've been married, can certainly use. I would recommend this book to all couples but especially to those who are finding it difficult to find and spend one-on-one time together.

When a couple first gets together everything is exciting and new. Both partners are simply head over heels about one another, and there's never a dull moment. Kisses, whispered sweet nothings, breakfast in bed, lazy walks to no where in particular, conversations about anything and everything that can go on and on for hours. These are just a small sampling of the things relationships are made up of in the beginning. And then time to starts slip by. We grow together but we also grow apart. There can be many reasons for such changes- as we grow older our interests change, our physical appearances change (for better or worse), our family grows to include children, and time in general becomes thinned out by all the new responsibilities we've taken on as a couple and as individuals. Written with an easy application process in mind, this is a book that any couple at any stage of life can follow. For each of the 21 days readers will find a new project to complete. It may be something as simple as writing a loving note to their partner, or it may be more indepth such as requiring the couple to plan a special date night. Again, nothing is too extravagant, and the entire purpose of the book is to help bring couples closer together. It's a great book, and a wonderful marriage resource. I myself can't wait to get started!

With a perfect blend of real-life witticisms, honesty about the joys and difficulties of married life, and a touch of scriptural support, Lipps latest is a fast, engaging, and eminently do-able guide to setting your marriage to project status. Complete with planning pages, daily project assignments, suggestions for tweaking, room for journaling, and testimonies from real-life couples whove completed each project, The Marriage Project is all youll need to embark on three-weeks of high-quality marital bonding.Lipp is sure to provide suggestions that accommodate a range of budgets and none require vast amounts of planning. Thats reassuring for an organizationally challenged woman like myself. Lipp also devotes page space to overcoming common obstacles, setting an accountability structure in place, and devoting a week to planning out the project with your mate on paper, in advance.Providing a good balance daily projects that appeal alternately to male and female interests, husbands can embrace the project without the fear of endless candle-lit dinners or chick-flicks. Women can likewise rest assured that giving foot massages, serving pretzels, and planning bonus projects (Lipps catch phrase for projects focused on sexual intimacy) will be the course of the day for the entire 3-weeks. Spouses can instead look forward to all of these things in moderation as their hearts are drawn closer to one another.Weve all read marriage books, we all have a great deal of theories and principles about marriage in our heads, but Lipp helps readers get intentional, and put what they know to work. There isnt a lot of theorizing, explanations, or scriptural proof-texts in The Marriage Project but there is a wealth of ideas to put that existing knowledge into practice and to become intentional about improving our marriages.

Sometimes it takes the smallest and simplest things to stir up the embers and re-ignite the passions in a marriage. When I first read the synopsis of Kathi Lipps book, the Marriage Project, I was certain it was going to be just another manual on how-to improve your marriage. After reading through the first couple of projects, I couldnt wait to embark on this unique 21 day journey with my husband. I figured convincing him would be a challenge but I was shocked when he whole heartedly embraced the idea. Not to ruin it for those who have yet to experience the Marriage Project; it was exhilarating to face each of the projects with my mate. My favorite projects were Turning up the Heat, Getting to Know You and A Little Hands On Attention. We had a blast cooking together. Planning the meal, shopping for the ingredients, chopping, sauting and broiling, and then finally sitting down to enjoy the meal wed preparedan amazing culinary experience. It was very reminiscent of our newlywed years when we enjoyed doing everything together. I thought I knew everything about my mate, but Getting to Know You made me realize that there are plenty of things I have yet to learn about my husband and vice versa. I was a bit hesitant to try A Little Hands on Attention, but my husband loved the pampering massage. Seeing his enjoyment put me immediately at ease. It created an unforgettable night

I think this is a great book to spice things up in your marriage. To get you out a of rut and into some "couple" time. This book delivers exactly what it promises to do: it helps couples be intentional about how they spend time together. The projects are practical and completely do-able. As with any project, you get out of it what you put into it and this book gets you to the place where you can focus on being a couple. When you pick up this book, don't let the number of chapters be daunting. They are quick reading so you can get started on spicing things up.

Twenty-one days to more love and laughter. That's the subtitle of Kathi Lipp's book, The Marriage Project. Kathi's goal is for couples to step back from their hectic schedules and pour time and energy into their marriage for 3 weeks. She challenges them to restore the romance in their marriage and to put their spouse at the top of the priority list. Why 21 days? Because that's how long it takes to make a new habit, of course. Kathi Lipp isn't a psychologist with a bunch of letters after her name. She's just a wife, in the trenches with us, as she tries to keep her marriage healthy while raising kids and working. She openly shares about her 2nd marriage and adding the role of step mom to her life, as well. Her determination to make her 2nd marriage work is part of what inspired the writing of this book. This book is designed to be used by the husband and wife together, with assignments for each of them throughout the week. But, it can be done by one spouse alone, and still make a difference in the marriage and its romance-factor. Some of the projects include planning a date for your spouse, making a list of ten things you like about them, and massages. I won't give any more away, but most of these are simple things that just help us to focus on our spouse and our marriage, and communicate with each other. It's a great book, and I definitely recommend it!(provided for review by FIRST Wildcard Blog Tours)

The Marriage Project Book Review by Kathi LipThis is a really fun book! My hubby and I had some fun and in the mean time, learned just a little bit more about each other! The funny thing is when my hubby first found out about the projects, he wasnt sure he wanted to participate. I have to admit, hes been a good sport! Kathi made the projects fun. They were also doable, even on days that we work. The ideas are great to use for even after the projects are all finished. This is a great way to take these ideas and use them in the future with our spouses. Thanks Kathi for another great book!

The Marriage Project: 21 Days to More Love and Laughter by Kathi Lipp caught my eye immediately because of its adorable cover. This book is a thought-provoking non-fiction read with ideas for 21 days worth of activities to spice up your marriage whether it is simply tired or if it is actually suffering.Personally, I have read so many marriage and relationship books lately that such a book has to be really spectacular to get kudos from me. The Marriage Project is a good book, and I am sure it will help many relationships by teaching people to be more thoughtful and encouraging of each other. But Ive seen these ideas in other resources, so I am looking for something a bit more intense. Still, for those who are new to this subject matter or who just need a little help and a few basic ideas, this is a good read.

The Marriage Project is a practical guide to help husbands and wives infuse more love and laughter into their relationship. Written in a unique, humorous, and quirky style that is Kathi Lipp's alone (she is fast becoming one of my favorite authors!) I found this book to be a wellspring of interesting ideas and gentle motivation to help me keep my marriage a top priority. Lipp speaks of a time in the very beginning of her marriage where she and her husband Roger decide that the watchword for their marriage would be intentional. She writes, "We determined that if we wanted to make this marriage work, we had to be intentional in everything we did. We would be intentional about inviting God into our marriage each day. We would be intentional about our time spent together and the conversations we shared. We would be intentional about supporting each other and looking for the good in each other, instead of constantly recognizing what was driving us nuts." Reading (and then doing) The Marriage Project would be a great way for any of us married folks to intentionally bless and nurture our marriages.
