Anna Finch and the Hired Gun is not just a cowboy story--not even close. Toward the end of reading it, I realized there hadn't been a dull moment to the book. It didn't have a slow start, no plodding middle, and it had a wonderfully satisfying end.
It ranks near the top of my list of favorites, The historical background to the book showed that a lot of research had been done and was woven into the story. I especially enjoyed the quotes at the beginning of the chapters. The humor was wonderful, as well.
This book kept me reading late and made me anxious to reach the end, but I also wanted to just keep reading more from Kathleen Y'Barbo from this time period. I knew it would be good when I saw her name.

A delightful story of a young woman who defies conventional society to become a journalist. Upon meeting Doc Holliday and writing a series of articles about him she soon finds she may have more in her life than she bargained for. When her father finds out about her "un-lady like" behavior he hires a Jeb Saunders to keep her out of trouble which of course is when the read trouble starts.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I have to say I have truly enjoyed every minute of it. One of my favorite parts were the Doc Holliday interviews. I thought those added a very realistic touch.

A very cute story. One small annoying thing is the ebook file does not include the cover picture as the first page but a green and white text only page. I'll still read other ebooks by this author though.

"Anna Finch and the Hired Gun" was fun and humorous! I had a hard time putting it down! I didn't know what to expect at first as I've never read the author but she had me hooked from the very beginning! It was very well written and the characters were likable. I found myself rooting for Anna as she did her own thing now matter what anyone thought! Even though her father was against it as well as the hired gun, Jeb, she still did what was against the norm during that time period. Definitely a read again book as well as author!

I want to say something more original than delightful, but that sums up this book perfectly. Funny, witty and clever, I had a smile on my face the whole time I was reading. Anna Finch and the Hired Gun is pure romantic comedy, full of one line zingers, comical situations and brilliant deadpan humour even in the face of danger. The action scenes are riddled with dry humour as well. Rollicking, hysterical and just plain fun to read.

Anna Finch wasnt aiming for Jeb Sanders the day she shot him. It was his misfortune that he decided to take a nap behind the very log Anna used for target practice.For Pinkerton man Sanders, the wound in his side was the least of his problems. Annas bullet made a detour through that painful flesh abrasion, wounded his manly pride (hed been shot by a woman!), then made a bee line for his heart, which hed been convinced would never love again. But the feisty socialite changed his mind in an instantsure as shootin!Annas parents are set on marrying her off to whatever wealthy, respectable suitor will take her off their hands. But Annas every bit as determined not to marry a man she doesnt love. Shes also set her mind on becoming a reporter. She knows she can write. Shes the anonymous author of a whole series of dime novels, and has her own well-stocked bank account to prove it.When Annas sleuthing brings her into repeated contact with none other than Doc Holliday, as well as his good friend Wyatt Earp, Jeb makes up his mind to stop the headstrong, independent, incorrigible woman before she gets hurt. After all, hes the hired gun Annas father pays to keep his daughter safe from herself. Besides, Jeb has a score to settle with Holliday for murdering his wife.Annas antics and Jebs determined quelling of them makes for a hilarious romp of a semi-western romance. Bringing Earp and Holliday into the storyline serves to add believability to this fun tale. YBarbos well-rounded characters insert themselves into the readers heart and dont let go. I loved both Jed and Anna from the first, action-packed scene, and cheered for them until the last captivating paragraph.An easy read, one that leaves the reader with a smile and a little more faith in the power of love.

Let me start this review with one word: Wow! I think Kathleen Y'Barbo, the author of "Anna Finch and the Hired Gun" is brilliant! She's a true wordsmith. The first book in this series from Waterbrook/Random House is "The Confidential Life of Eugenia Cooper," which I loved. So I knew going in that I would probably enjoy the second book, too. Ms. Y'Barbo did not disappoint. Not only did she give me a rollicking good story, I got a few great one-liners out of the deal, too. For example, there's one line where the heroine is caught "between a rock and a hero." Ha! There's also a great line about a Derringer, but I won't give that one away. You'll have to read it for yourself. I loved Anna's determination, sense of humor and her heart for justice. More than anything else, though, I loved the romantic thread between the hero and heroine. Yum! One of my faves! I highly recommend this story to lovers of great romance and adventure. You won't be disappointed. And while you're at it, you might give thought to picking up a copy of "The Confidential Life of Eugenia Cooper," too. That way you'll learn even more about Anna Finch and her antics!

Wow This book was as good if not better than the first one. I loved how the writer put the old wild west into the story line. Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp are intersting within themselves. But the fictional characters makes it for a great read. I couldn't put it down. I wanted it to continue on and on. Anna is a woman with goals, marriage not really one of them, unless it's for love. And she accomplishes a lot of her goals. I enjoyed this book. I hope there are many more from Kathleen Y'Barbo. She can tell a story and make you feel a part of it. Great READ!!!
