The Girlfriends Guidebook, by Marian Jordan is a must read for any woman. While there are many books and manuals on marriage, dating, and child-rearing this book takes a look at something every woman has in common, but few books are written for friendship.

Ms. Jordan does an excellent job looking through scripture and exemplifying the finer points in a friendship as well as helpful tips to navigate the pitfalls, we all come across. I would recommend this book to any friend and plan on sharing it with my daughters, as well.

As a woman do you find it difficult to foster relationships with other women? Do you make your friendship with women more complicated than it was designed to be? Marian Jordan, founder of Redeemer Girl Ministries, wrote “The Girlfriend’s Guidebook” to help women navigate the rough waters of jealousy, control, competition, anger, manipulation and resentment.

Jordan discusses disposing of your baggage and has several chapters explaining the characteristics of a Christlike friend. “The Girlfriend’s Guidebook” is a wonderful small group study for a woman’s group. The back of the book contains questions small groups can discuss. Jordan suggests that we look within ourselves and gain freedom from our own emotional baggage so that we can enjoy the journey of our friendships with other women.

Instead of jealousy and resentment, Jordan shows us how to foster compassion, forgiveness and loyalty as well as many other traits necessary for a successful and positive relationship.
