The book was motivational, but the CD and the whole system were not worth the money.

I came across this book because the administrator of our local home education support group selected it for the annual January Book Discussion. The main theme of the book is "how to organize your life." The book is not about homeschooling, it just happens to be written by a home educating parent. The author consistently/constantly repeats the same information throughout each chapter within the book. After being lulled to sleep by the rambling dialogue, I decided to place the book in the Goodwill donation box. Instead of reading through this poorly written piece of dribble I would highly recommend reading Emily Barne's book "More Hours in My Day." Emily's book has sustained the test of time for the past twenty five years, so it's a classic when it comes to reading about the "how to's of home management/organization.

Contrary to what the title implies, this is NOT a book about homeschooling. It is, rather, a book about organizing your home written by a woman who, incidentally, has homeschooled her children. What a disappointment to one who trusted that the title described the subject of the book, especially since I would NOT have purchased a book about organizing/housework. This may be a nice book if one wants to know how to organize their closets, but is certainly not about the act or even theory of homeschooling.

This book was a surprise to me. It is more than a scheduling book, more than an inspiration book and more than a planner. It has all this and puts it together with a dash of humor. Instead of telling you step by step how to do something, it teaches you how to set your priorities so that you plan for and implement your most important items. It shares ways to plan for life with the least amount of disruption to school, and vice versa.

This book is so practical and encouraging. I would recommend Homeschooling at the Speed of Life to anyone thinking of homeschooling, discouraged with homeschooling, and even parents just wanting help getting organized and having a purpose for their family.

Homeschooling at the Speed of life is a "MUST HAVE" for every family who homeschools. It is helpful in so many ways, even has downloadable forms from the CD and is humerous as well. I sent it to a friend in Southern California. Great information!

"Functional neatness" was a concept that I could latch on to in this wonderful guide to organizing your home and life. Full of practical wisdom from a mom who's been there, this book helps you to stay on task while keeping priorities in balance. Very helpful!

This book is a wonderful book to inspire you to organize your life. It is not just for homeschoolers. Marilyn gives it to you straight, without holding back. It is for any woman who needs to de-clutter her home and her life. I immediately cleaned out two closets and out from under the bed. I organized my office and actually found some of the projects I had misplaced. I highly recommend this book!SherriSherri Johnson Ministries

If you are a wife, mother and home educator struggling to balance home, school and family, this book is perfect for you! It offers encouragement and practical advice for creating the peaceful and relaxed home that you long for. The book is written in a friendly, gentle manner by a veteran homeschool mom who has "been there, done that" reassuring readers that even though we're only human, we can still manage to bring order to our homes while increasing productivity and decreasing stress."Homeschooling at the Speed of Life" provides an introduction to basic home management principles, common sense suggestions for clutter control and tackling those piles of papers, creative ideas for developing life skills in children, encouraging ways to build relationships by using the home as a center for hospitality, and recordkeeping tips plus a bonus CD with printable forms. Perhaps more importantly, it tells how to make wise use of the time that God has given you so that you can enjoy being with your family without being preoccupied with things. This is a unique organizational book that also can be used as a devotional or Bible study. At the end of each chapter there are Scripture references to look up, questions to discuss, hands-on exercises and thoughts to ponder. Upon reading it, I was delighted to realize that the author and I are kindred spirits. She even intersperses inspirational quotations and Bible verses throughout her text just like I do. In fact, some of the quotes that she uses and many similar ones can be found in my "Learning for Life" book.Regardless of where you are in your homeschool journey and no matter how organized you are, you are bound to gain some valuable insights from this book. It would be a great gift for a new homeschool mom on how to run an organized homeschooling household. Even non-homeschoolers will be able to benefit from the advice in this book! -Teri Ann Berg Olsen, author of "Learning for Life: Educational Words of Wisdom
