This book came highly recommended by a friend in Jacksonville, FL. I have already passed it on to other friends to read. I think it is a must that we keep well informed from reliable sources on what is happening in our government.

Senator Demint's powerful book, entitled Saving Freedom,supports his oath to defend the Constitution of the United States. In this book, Senator Demint provides a crash course on Americas political process and proceeds to identify the enemies of our freedom. The men and women who are elected to represent us in the Senate and Congress, and even the presidential office itself,have become the greatest threat to Americas freedom. They have fallen prey to the socialist ideal that individual freedom is dangerous and that the only hope of survival our country has is to give the federal government full control of our lives. Demint provides research data and a detailed annotated bibliography to support the information he presents upon the pages of Saving Freedom. Senator Demint is convinced that many Americans are living beneath a cloud of ignorance, and he makes every effort to identify and define socialism and the threat it represents to our country. Saving Freedom uses easily understood language to explain to every American the danger that now lies at our doors. Senator DeMint does an excellent job in identifying how America has become far too reliant on government plans and policies and the serious -- but not yet irrevocable -- damage it has done to our freedoms. This is "Freedom 101" -- a brief but informative course in socialism versus freedom. Without meaning to sound like an alarmist, I do believe this topic is of vital importance to every Christian and every person who values freedom. Despite the moral and spiritual platitudes being employed by some self-serving politicians, the truth is that the Christian values upon which our country was established are rapidly being replaced by a secular humanistic mindset fostered by an ever-expanding socialistic government. "There are two destructive dimensions to the federal attempts to separate church and state. One is the elimination of the positive values and constructive behaviors associated with the free practice of religious faith. The other is the cumulative effect of laws and court rulings that actually promote destructive behaviors and violate our national conscience" (page 158).

sen jim demint has writtion a wonderful inspirational bestseller were he shares his faith and and his concerns were this country is going.this book is very hard is to put down it gave me a great apprieation of my basic freedoms and how I can make a difference . great gift idea idea for a friend or family member.
