A wonderful quick read that combines light fantasy and Christian values. Really enjoyed the story, the characters, and the overall lightheartedness of the book. I have four adult daughters and will be buying each of them a copy of their own.

This book has an interesting twist on the usual love story. I certainly do recommend it. It could also be used as a learning tool in today's culture.

I'm not typically a fantasy ready. I didn't realize that this book had elements of that when I ordered it. But, having read it, I thought the story was nice, definitely not run of the mill--as long as you have a firm grasp on the difference between fantasy and reality. For this reason, I wouldn't give this book a general recommendation; it may not be appropriate for younger, ungrounded or spiritually immature audiences.

I was delighted with how the story went. Especially the way they received the free tickets.
Was so happy when she was able to get to the Christmas Ball regardless of what her sister did.
I was rejoicing when the couple finally had their time at the Christmas Ball.

This was a very easy read, very quick. It was nice for the holiday season, cause sometimes it's hard to find time to read something that can "consume" you, so this was perfect for that, it's a sweet story, with Christmas magic, and miracles. And of course, love :) Cute Book!

Cora Crowder doesn't care for the hubbub of the Christmas season so she carefully plans out all her Christmas shopping, today its a book for her uncle. Her search for the perfect book leads her to Warner, Werner, and Wizbotterdad's bookshop. While there she not only happens upon her boss, a man known as serious Simon Derrick, but a ticket to the Wizard's Christmas Ball.
When Simon Derrick's father died he stepped into his shoes, working hard to support his family. Unfortunately this has turned him into a serious workaholic who seems to send a 'steer clear' message to all the women in his life. If only they could see him with his sister and the rest of his family, there he becomes a different person. Until a visit to an unusual bookstore where he receives a ticket to the Wizard's Christmas Ball.
Can this unusual ball and its even more unusual matchmaking founders bring together these two lonely hearts?
I'm not totally sure what to say about this book, except that I have never read anything like it. I think the best words to describe it are whimsical and Hallmark Channel, in so many ways it felt like a Hallmark movie. Parts of this book I really liked, there was something very sweet about it and it was a pretty light and easy read. But other parts not so much, there is quite a bit of talk about wizards and fairies and such, and while the author very clearly marks the line between good and evil and shows that only God really has power this still didn't totally sit right with me. Something about it didn't really fit, somehow it seemed like two worlds were being combined that just didn't go together. At moments the book was so realistic it just barely avoided being boring, and at others it was quite fantastical. I liked Cora's character and I really liked Sandy, Simon's younger sister, but Simon himself wasn't that well done. Still, this was a sweet pre-Christmas read, although I don't think I will be adding it to my Christmas favorites (which would be the Christmas Hope and the Christmas Promise by the way!).
I received this from Waterbrook Multnomah's blogging for books program in exchange for my honest review.

I haven't read much "Christmas" fiction. I thought this one sounded quirky and fun, so I thought I would give it a try :)
This definitely an interesting read. It was a sort of fantasy, but with a very strong Christian message. As Cora and Simon's life is interrupted by these odd, mysterious shop owners, the reader is left wondering who these vendors are. Strictly speaking, I wouldn't say this book has "magic" in it...things just happen mysteriously without any explanation. Wizards are mentioned (It's called the "Wizards Ball", after all); however, it is explained that "wizard" does not mean a magician or sorcerer, but rather a wise older person. Not sure what I think about that, but it was a interesting thought. :) It was a sweet book, full of the possibility and wonder of Christmas. It's probably not something I would read over and over again, though.
I received this book free of charge from Waterbrook Publishers in exchange for my honest review.

Cora Crowder is simply trying to celebrate Christmas and complete her holiday shopping. When she steps into the most unusual bookshop, Warner, Werner and Wizbotterdad, most unusual occurrences begin to happen!
Surprise encounters with her co-worker, Simon Derrick, a ticket to a mysterious Christmas ball, and other oddities start crowding Cora Crowder’s solitary life.
Will the match-making shopkeepers on Sage Street be able to spark a Christmas romance at their enchanted ball? Or will the ticket be a recipe for disaster this season?
From the start, Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball is an intriguing tale. Coincidences and crossed paths blossom into an unlikely romance as this fantasy transforms the mundane to magical.
Cora and Simon are ordinary people, laden with imperfect pasts and plenty of differences. Initially, they have no desire to become involved with each other. As circumstances continually bring them together, they discover that their shared faith and opposite personalities are ingredients for a delightful romance.
Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball is a charming story, filled with sweet moments and fairy tale glitter. There is some magic, to be expected from a fantasy. The ball is called “The Wizard’s Christmas Ball.” There are magical ball gowns and discussions of other fairy tale traits. But there’s never any extreme magic. In this story, “wizard” does not indicate a warlock, but rather an older, wizened person.
Cora and Simon both have some lessons to learn along the way. I did feel that some parts of the story moved a little too quickly, but I suppose that’s because Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball is a novella, and not a full-length novel.
There were a couple remarks in the story I wasn’t pleased with, but nothing that was downright dreadful enough to spoil it.
Overall, Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball was a fun, light read, sprinkled with sweetness and fairy dust. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for my review.
