Baker Academic Meet the Rabbis: Rabbinic Thought and the Teachings of Jesus - eBook

Meet the Rabbis explains to the reader how rabbinic thought was relevant to Jesus and the New Testament world, and hence should be relevant to those people today who read the New Testament. In this sense, Rabbinic thought is relevant to every aspect of modern life. Rabbinic literature explores the meaning of living life to its fullest, in right relationship with God and humanity. The book is an introduction to rabbinic thought and literature and has three main sections in its layout: Introduction to Rabbinic Thought, Introduction to Rabbinic Literature, and Meet the Rabbis, a biographical description of influential Rabbis from Talmudic sources.

After having heard several claims about the influence of the Rabbi's on Jesus' teachings, I was curious enough to pick up this volume and I was not let down. This is an excellent introductory text for both the student, the lay person, and the Pastor who needs a refreshing look at how Jesus' ministry is positioned in the center of Jewish life and as a continuum in Rabbinic Judaism as a whole. A must read.

I have only begun to delve into this book and I really really like it. For those of you really wanting to understand our Messiah more from the Jewish perspective of which the western church world is really lacking in, you might want to buy this book.. Many believers just don't really think about the fact that Yeshua (Jesus) was a Rabbi.) Our God and Saviour is inexhaustible in HIS Being..Wow!
