From the perspective of both a math teacher and a home-schooling mom this is a great curriculum. It teaches kids concepts in a logical order and interesting manner. Children are given multiple methods of understanding concepts and ways to solve problems, and then are allowed to use their preferred method to "hone their skills". The workbook and textbook together provide adequate practice for an average student, but supplemental workbooks are available if you need them (I have just made up additional problems for my daughter to work through on a dry-erase board in areas that she needed a bit of extra practice with). I can't say I'd recommend the tests (I've never seen them, but I don't agree with formally testing early elementary aged students). Please DO buy the Home Educator's Guide as this is where all the hands-on ideas and teaching methods are presented - it is what makes the curriculum!

I was excited about this at first, but teaching through it was difficult. The workbooks have good graphics, but trying to teach my child this method was difficult. He had a hard time understanding how to solve the problems the singapore math way, so we had to discontinue by 2nd semester.

My daughter, who is timid in math, is doing great in this program. It has just enough structure to keep us moving, yet enough flexibility to camp out where she needs more time. She asks to do math with this program instead of complaining.
