Singaporemath.com Inc EarlyBird Kindergarten Math (Standards Edition) Textbook B

A comprehensive, activity-based program aligned to the California standards, kindergarteners will gain a strong foundation in basic math, preparing them for more advanced thinking. This textbook presents concepts in a systematic, engaging and fun way; hands-on tasks, meaningful activities and attractive illustrations engage students' active participation in the learning process. New concepts are introduced in a spiral-method, while the Concrete> Pictorial>Abstract approach enables students to encounter math through concrete activities before progressing to pictorial and abstract representations.

This "B" textbook is designed for the second semester of the school year, and picks up where "Earlybird Kindergarten Mathematics Standards Edition A" leaves off. This book contains units 11-20, and covers comparing numbers, numbers to 20, number bonds, addition, subtraction, addition & subtraction, numbers to 30, time, numbers to 100, and money through multiple lessons within each unit.

Review pages at the end of each unit help to assess student mastery of the learning objectives. Teacher instructions are included at the bottom of each worksheet to help teachers develop lessons and mathematical concepts systematically. A section of "math at home" activities are included (for units 3-10) at the back of the book, along with a visual glossary and index.

193 full-color pages, softcover. Singapore Earlybird Kindergarten Math Textbook B.

I was originally hesitant to purchase this workbook due to the cost but, now that my 5 year old daughter has had a chance to use it for a month, I am very pleased with the purchase. When she finishes this level, I will buy the next one (no hesitation). ChristianBook shipped it promptly and for a reasonable price (plus, their product pricing is very competitive!).

To use this Textbook, you really need to get the workbook as well (which makes this curriculum more expensive. Also, with the B book, I found that I needed the teacher's guide (which is $50) and couldn't really teach it without the help of the teacher's guide. My children and I loved the graphics and I liked the activities included for parents/teachers on each page, but this curriculum's cost adds up quickly with the teacher's guide and workbook (and you need both the A and B sets for one year's worth of math). When I bought this curriculum, the cost for kindergarten was about $170 for one year. When my second daughter went through kindergarten I decided not to use this curriculum even though I had it because I had already decided we weren't going to stick with Singapore all the way through.
