This is the perfect book of Bible stories for little hearts and minds learning about God’s Word. The soft cover and size are perfect for small hands to hold and use. I also liked the fact the cover is washable. An especially nice feature where kids are involved!
The illustrations were excellent, with bright bold colors. This will be a real attention holder for young ones. Each page has one to four lines on it; just the right length for short attention spans. What was surprising was how very clearly they conveyed the Bible stories with so few words. The simplicity will definitely enable a small child to grasp and understand the story.
I particularly liked the book and chapter Bible references at the end of sentences that showed where in God Word the story was taken from. This makes it easy for the parent to go directly the Bible read the complete story.
This would be a beautiful gift for a baby or young child. A very nice addition to any young child’s “library”.
I received this book from Kregel Publications for my honest review.

I bought this because I wanted something that had good pictures and short stories for my 12 month old. The Candle Bible has those. There is also a good variety of stories.
However, the pictures of Adam and Eve are very risque and I will need to color over some of them. My 1 year old won't care about this, but it will be a different story as he gets older.
Also disappointing is the fact that the Bible fails to mention the most important themes of Scripture, those of sin and redemption. In reference to Jesus' death on the cross, the book mentions only that "his friends were very sad because they had lost a good friend." Stories that carry this theme of sin and redemption are also omitted, such as Cain's murder of Abel and Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac etc...
The stories and illustrations are cute and interesting for toddlers. Sadly we will be looking for another toddler Bible before long as even a small child can begin to understand the basic concepts of the Bible.

The pictures are engaging for toddlers, but the stories lack dimension. My girls, ages 2 and 3, did not really like it. I also don't like that it is not an exact translation. There are several stories left out (Esther for example) and some of the details are not quite correct. I would not recommend it. Go ahead and get the Big Picture Story Bible instead.
