In this volume on Psalms 101-150, Dr Allen offers a survey of current research into text, grammar, syntax, lexicography, genre, structure and exegesis. A specialized bibliography accompanies the treatment of each Psalm. His translation is accompanied by notes on word studies as well as explanations of his divergences from commonly accepted translations. He brings the overall structure and divisions of each Psalm as to their literary form and their setting in the historical experience of Israel. Allen also attempts to trace the impact of various Psalms upon Christian thought and devotions and focuses on the NT uses of the Psalter.

Customer Reviews for Psalms 101-150, Revised: Word Biblical Commentary [WBC]
Review 1 for Psalms 101-150, Revised: Word Biblical Commentary [WBC]
Allen is a well respected moderately conservative scholar. He writes well. His volume on Psalms 101-150 is no exception to the quality of his work. He provides helpful discussions of each Psalm’s structure and message. He also provides detailed discussions of the Hebrew text behind the English versions of this portion of scripture. The series of which this volume is a part, is probably best suited for university professors, well-trained pastors, and advanced seminary students. However others can benefit from sections on structure and comment as well.
