This will be perfect for teaching geography for 1st grade. The pages are colorful, and activities are fun! It gives just the right amount of work for this age.

My kids love this book. Bought it for a 6 and 7 year old and their 8 year old sister wanted to do it too because she thought it looked fun. It's pretty simple for kids of this age but they enjoyed it anyway and they have learned from it. We have the next two levels as well and they progress to more useful skills. This is a very good introduction to maps. And it is is a nice progression between the first three levels. Also they are cheap enough that I can afford to get each kid their own workbook rather than having to share.

Introduced this to my end of year Kindergarter. He went through the book in no time because it was so interesting. Asked for more. Had to go in depth more with him because he had alot of questions. Curiousity!

This book has lots of beginning skills, in a easy-to use, and intuitively progressive format. My only complaint is that it seems to be dumbed down from what I remember map skills in first grade to be. I homeschool, so I don't know what level first grade is anymore (a major reason I homeschool is the falling standards in schools) so this book may be perfectly in line with what most first graders are doing.
It's a good book, and my 6-year-old is having a wonderful time learning from it.

I bought this book for my first grade boy who HATES work books. This one has been wonderful though. You are suppose to write in it but we sit and I talk over what it says and then he will draw on his own paper. (I am saving this book for my three year old and one year old too.) We have both enjoyed working in this book. I am looking forward to using it when my younger children are ready.

My 7 y.o., 1st grade son loves this book. It is very colorful and interesting. It is age appropriate and a great introduction to the basics of map reading and geography. We homeschool, and he does 1-2 pages most days. He always begs to do more in this book (which is not typical for this VERY active little boy who is not that fond of workbooks in general!) It is well worth the price.
