It's not very often that we get the opportunity of seeing on DVD the actual stage performance of a musical - they are either turned into big-screen movies (Like Moulin Rouge or Chicago), or simply recorded as concerts (Like Les Miserables). So, to view the actual stage show was a real treat for me. The music isn't too gripping (as for example opposed to Hero! the Rock Opera), but it is well performed, the lyrics are moving and I think the special effects are excellently ballanced - not too flashy, not too out-of-date. Very proper for a stage show.
Val Kilmer is excellent as Moses, as are all the other leading parts, and the dancers. Of course, I was curious to see Adam Lambert performing.
As to the largely discussed golden calf scene, yes, it is a bit overdone, but when you think of it, it was way more overdone in reality and if you feel uncomfortable watching this, try to imagine how did God feel watching the real thing... Well, OK, maybe not appropriate for young kids, but then again, I don't think a youg child would appreciate the whole musical either. I think it is aimed at a more grown-up audience.
Overall, I like the musical and have already recommended this dvd to my friends.
P.S. I had no problems playing the DVD.

DVD was poor quality. Stopped and restarted on its own multiple times. Did not enjoy at all. Acting/music was OK.

This was awful.it took me three tries to get through it ; and I love musicals. The songs were fair at besto was glad that I hadn't paid full price for it. It did not hold my attention. The costumes were not appropriate for the time period

This musical was awesome. It brought out alot of emotions while viewing. And the actors/actresses were amazing. They of course had some creative licensing to lend to the production of this musical, but it was very well put together. The singers were awesome. The scenes of the golden calf and sexual sins were dragged out a little long, and I wouldn't want my young children to view that part, but it was a very memorable musical. I'm not a big Val Kilmer fan, but I really liked his work in this film. This musical touched my heart so much so, that I've been giving it as gifts to other Christian families. My women's study group watched it as well. Some liked it, some didn't. I have touted this movie and would recommend it.

It was good, but I am not sure whether I like musical parts to that story. It would have to be something I could sit and watch by myself, because my husband doesn't like musicals, period.

I purchased this DVD thinking that it wouldn't be that good but I would give it a shot anyway. I was right it wasn't very good. Also, I through it out just because I didn't think it was appropriate to have in my house. Some of the story line and dancing are just inappropriate.

This was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The clothing was to revealing. The dance was very immodest. The Golden Calf scene was VERY unnecessary. Yes it may have depicted the times, but they did not have to show it. I do not recommend this movie!

I bought the DVD out of curiosity because I was wondering, how could a stage production be done on such a large event in Biblical history. On viewing it at first I was not to into it,but after viewing the whole production I was quite impressed and realized the challenge of doing it on stage was just that.Taking a massive event and presenting it on stage.I feel it went over well. The music was awesome,(is there a CD),but over all after watching it,I was well entertained.I do recommend it,(even tho it is on the PG)side of viewing. But other then that, very very good.

Fantastic musical; very enjoyable entertainment. Who knew Val Kilmer could hold his own so well against some very fine vocalist. Well worth the very small price!!!

The music and choreography were outstanding I've been a fan of Val Kilmer for years and have been impressed more each time I see his work. I am kind of picky when it comes to the Bible and understand that given the time and and all it seems reasonble that some poetic license must be accepted. Personally, I wasn't offended at all.

This was the worst musical I have ever seen! I was laughing through the whole thing it was so goofy. I understand that some movies and musicals can take artistic license with Biblical stories but this one is the most out of whack and not true to scripture. Mmost of the women were scantily dressed and the couples' choreography was overly sensual. Also, the golden calf scene where it was a free for all and was drawn out far too long to be tasteful. The only positive part was Adam Lambert as Joshua. However, I would recommend watching his solo number "Is Anybody Listening" and the songs where he has small parts on YouTube. I would not advise anyone to watch this DVD.

Not a bad DVD overall. Didn't care the the sensual dancing, but it did express what happened at the time. Val Kilmer was surprisingly good in the musical. His experience as an actor was very evident

Fabulous singing, acting & dancing. Val Kilmer's voice was a little weak though compared to the other actors. Adam Lambert was fantastic, especially when he sang Is Anybody Listening. I would recommend this dvd.

I was surprised to see that Val can sing but the story line showed several errors and was not confirmed by the bible. I realized there had to be highlights picked out for the story line but accuracy is important...I fell asleep in the middle of the movie...sorry.
