I wish I had read this book 10 years ago! All the way through it I got little flashes of issues I've dealt with for years, and got real, clear, and biblical answers to dealing with those issues. I'm sending copies to some family and friends! I highly recommend this book, used along with your Bible as Drs Cloud and Townsend give biblical references for all their ideas.

This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. It addresses commonly held Christian/Scriptural answers to some of life's problems. But the authors point out with further explanation of Scripture how those pat answers are truly contrary to the real understanding of the Scripture. It was a great help to me personally.

An extraordinarily helpful book in that it outlines and rebuts 12 commonly-held, but false, assumptions about what it means to live the Christian life. The authors (evangelical psychologists) emphasize, for example, that we must not suppose that, because God is committed to meeting our needs, we can get along without people who will support and encourage us (or that Christians are immune to pain and difficulties). The format (rebutting Christian "myths") is interesting, and the writing style is simple and straightforward. I would highly recommend this book to any Christian, whether new to the faith or a long-time believer.
