My son came to a point in the course that he could not figure out on his own, so we decided to try the dvd. The video is power point except for the experiments, so it isn't an "exciting" dvd, but it has helped a great deal. There are more examples of problems than the text has - done step by step. My son says that seeing things explained with more detail helps him understand better than just reading about it. We plan to buy the instructional dvd for physics for next school year.

I was very disappointed in this product. My understanding was that it was full lectures for each module when, in fact, it is only partial 'lectures' and experiments.
I also had difficulty playing the dvd. When I played it in a format that allowed me to actually pause it, it was broken up into 2-3 minute segments. This made for a very choppy, disorganized 'lecture' that was very difficult for me (as an adult) to follow, much less for my child/student.
Since I am unable to return the dvd for a refund (since I had to open it to discover these issues), I am forced to keep it.
Rather than use the dvd, I have had to sign up for a live online class that will actually benefit my daughter. So now I am out twice the money.

We have the Physical Science and Biology Instructional Videos and were very disappointed that the Chemistry course is in a completely different format.
The previous videos are broken down into just (2) Interactive Video Lectures per module. We watched one each week. They came with a suggested reading schedule to go along with lectures and example Lab Reports.
The Chemistry video is broken into dry Power Point presentations that cover each section in the book. When one section is talked about, it stops, and then you have to click to play the next section. There are numerous sections in each book. My kids miss Mr. R's laugh.
The only thing we do like is that it does have the experiments for viewing. This is very helpful for those who don't do the labs, but want to see the experiments done.
