Focus on the Family Radio Broadcast One Pitch from Humility

Frank Pastore thought he had it all ... his amazing life included fame, fortune and a professional baseball contract. But soon, his success went to his head, leading a teammate to caution him, "Never get too cocky, because you're always only one pitch from humility." Those words would later ring true when a single pitch led Pastore to his knees, and into the arms of Christ. Listen as the former professional baseball pitcher shares his fascinating story of salvation and how he finally discovered the true fulfillment he could never find in worldly success.

A very powerful and revealing message. It will let us know how prideful we are. I really like the statement he makes about Jesus.

This presentation by Frank Pastore has a good balance of insider sports talk mixed in with his Christian testimony. The title, "One Pitch from Humility," is a quote from the famous,Baseball Hall of Fame catcher, Johnny Bench, which Frank explains on this CD. It is fun for non-Christian sports fans to hear how things work for a major league pitcher, and it is inspiring for Christians to hear how Frank's simple, non-superstar teammates gently pursued Frank to become a Christian. There are lots of laughs, too, in Frank's story. This is a good CD for repeated listening, and a great CD to use to help witness to your non-Christian friends who are sports fans.
