The ESV Study Bible includes more than 20,000 notes, written specifically for the ESV Study Bible. These notes focus especially on understanding the meaning of the text, giving answers to frequently raised questions, and providing theological, historical, and archaeological background—all for the purpose of helping readers to understand the Bible in a deeper way.
The ESV Study Bible also provides a wealth of additional resources. The value far exceeds the investment because of attention to quality. The leather binding ensures longevity. The scholarship between the covers ensure lasting aids to fulfilling Bible study experiences. The translation is readably comfortable.

This study Bible has it all. The notes, the introductions, and the articles are all top notch and make this a true study Bible, one that can be used for years to come. In addition, the ESV is such a readable and understandable translation.

This bible is wonderful! It's a little big and heavy, but I don't mind... I also prefer the bigger lettering.. Dare I say it? As I'm getting older! lol I have the one between the personal, and large print version.. It's well crafted , and very well put together.. I love the ESV version , very easy to read, and very accurate. The study notes are excellent, and it has a lot of maps.. Like I said before, this is a very well put together, and thought out Bible ! They set out to make an easier to read and accurate bible, of Gods word. In my opinion, they achieved their goal.. Great job guys ! I really give this 4.5 stars, if you could give half stars? P.S You also get the online version, free as well.. Which in itself, is great!

I purchased this particular Bible as a gift for my niece's wedding. After receiving it, I of course thumbed through it to make sure it was acceptable and ready to be gift-wrapped when I discovered how much more this publisher has put into this Bible. It is much, much more than just a straightforward Bible. It is packed with explanation notes and commentary, and now I wish I had bought it for myself ;-)

I purchased this Bible as a birthday gift for my wife. I had her name imprinted on the front cover.
She was delighted with the Bible, from the beautiful leather cover to all of the study notes and reference material. She is looking forward to becoming familiar with the ESV translation, which I plan to use as my primary text for teaching and preaching beginning next year (yes, she is a "preacher's wife.")

I have had the ESV Study Bible since 2008. It has become my favorite. I love it for study and preaching. I also love my wife, but she borrows mine too often. I bought this one for her so we can both have our own. She loves the translation and this Study Bible's exceptional notes, introductions and articles as I do.

I enjoy the ESV and this version is wonderfully supplemented with a helpful "study" portion of this study Bible. It's just a lot of good information in one Bible resource. A couple of minor cautions are 1) this Bible is big. Not an easy to take with you style. 2) the font of the study notes is smaller than I expected for my 49 year old eyes. I use this as a reading/study Bible at home with the leather binding. I'm glad I made this choice and you may be too as long as you keep my minor cautions in mind. The ESV may be the new NIV of this generation. For me, this was a good choice.

This accurate translation with the best of the English language of today without loosing the dignity of the old parlance makes it delightful reading.
Although the book is thick, but this is redeemed by the massive valuable footnotes, preface, and the 250 pages of doctrine overview, Biblical ethics, interpreting the Bible, many other titles and most adequate concordance.
The book also has sufficient space for adding notes in the margin.
The leather binding and the printing are of high quality, and the price is a bargain.

An outstanding study bible! I use the Holman NIV commentary set, crossway ESV study bible, and MacArthur commentary set, and several other study bibles as I study the word. These books are compelling me, for the first time in my life; with an enthusiasm for reading the word of God (this was hindered in the past due to my inability to interpret some scripture). I am EXTREMELY grateful for the blessings that that these texts provide, i.e., in-depth and understandable analysis, contemporary language (as opposed to Calvin, Poole, Henry, etc.), supporting scripture, etc.
How I would rank my study bibles (based solely on my opinion of the quality and depth exegesis/analysis):
1. Crossway ESV study bible
2. John Macarthur NASB study bible
3. Zondervan NASB study bible
4. Ligonier Ministries ESV Reform study bible
5. NAB Catholic study bible (sparse exegesis)
6. RSV Ignatius Catholic Study Bible New Testament (in my opinion, Hahn erroneously interprets the scripture).
1. Crossway ESV study bible
2. John Macarthur NASB study bible
3. Zondervan NASB study bible
4. Ligonier Ministries ESV Reform study bible
5. NAB Catholic study bible (sparse exegesis)

Also, if you can afford the MacArthur New Testament commentary set and Holman NIV New Testament commentary set, then I would also highly recommend them for a more in-depth exegesis/analysis.

The word of God is never dull and will never come back void, no matter what it looks like, but this Bible is stunning. It is in deapth with tons of commentary, cross-references, maps, pictures and more. I love it and would highly recommend it.

The in depth articles are well written and thorough. The notes and illustrations are done with clarity and accuracy. The online feature makes study very easy. I bought one for my 18 year old son to try and encourage him to study the Bible properly as there are so many false views of Scripture. The Reformed perspective will guiide him in the right direction.
