Assuming that biblical principles should determine both how Christians behave, Stephen Mott in Biblical Ethics and Social Change synthesizes the fields of biblical exegesis and ethics in order to shows how Christians can help to bring about social betterment. His strategy is twofold; illustrate how both individual character and social order compliment each other and if, or how they are conducive to the myriad forms we use to effect social change including, politics, evangelism, the church as counter-community, direct social action, armed revolution, and civil disobedience. These approaches are grounded in Mott's belief that political authority has a major role to play in social change and juxtaposed with the biblical mandates to help the poor.
