"This new biography is welcome for a number of reasons. Primarily the author has carefully researched the 'official' material and edited, condensed and rewritten it in a modern style. But, all the great stories of this outstanding saint and missionary pioneer to China are here retold to thrill and challenge both those who already know them and to a new constituency of readers," CLC Book Reviews.

Review 1 for It Is Not Death to Die: A Biography of Hudson Taylor

Hudson Taylor was an INCREDIBLE CHRISTIAN. I am so greatful that God introduced him to me so that my faith in prayer and evangelism could be fortified. An inspiration. This book however is poorly written. The editor did not do his part in making sure that the sequence of events was in a consistant manner amoung other issues. Sometimes it feels like you're reading a bunch of bullet statements and not a biography. It is only because you do get the full understanding of who Hudson Taylor was, and because I have not read any other version of his biography, that I would recommend reading this book. My sister is reading the one written by his son Dr Howard Taylor and that seems to be a better option.

Review 2 for It Is Not Death to Die: A Biography of Hudson Taylor

This is a very complete work for a one volume edition. It is obvious that the author did some thorough research on Hudson Taylor. He gives some very detailed accounts of the mission work in China of Hudson Taylor's day. Also, at the beginning of the book, Cromarty lists an excellent bibliography. This, too, will be very helpful for those who wish to do more reading on this great man of God.
