Isaac Curtis JohnsonClinton, MSAge: 25-34Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5A MUST HaveSeptember 22, 2012Isaac Curtis JohnsonClinton, MSAge: 25-34Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for KJV Pulpit Bible Imitation leather, black.I am a man that is a lover of the Bible. I have all types of Bibles in all types of translations. I usually collect fine Bible with goatskin, calfskin and other leathers; however, the only thing that I was missing was a Lectern/Pulpit Bible. I just never saw the need of having such a large edition.
Well, since then I was call to be one of the Pastors of a EFCA church in Pennsylvania, and received an office that is at the church. So I no longer had to worry about carrying a large Bible to church; now it can stay on by desk or in the pulpit. With that being said, I figured that it was time.
So now I have this edition and fell in love as soon as I opened the box! This things bleeds quality. The weight of the paper is perfect; it feels like you are turning a piece of cloth instead of paper.
The paper is also super white and the ink is the darkest print I have ever seen in a Bible. The words on the page seem to be "alive" almost. You can tell much time was taken in printing this Lectern Edition correctly. In addition to that, the paper is as opaque as it gets; no worrying about ghosting with this Bible.
The gilt page edges are a thing of beauty for sure. You can tell that this is not the spray on gilt that publishers are using now. This is the real deal; sheets of gold foil pressed onto the edges. When the Bible is closed, the gilt looks like a solid gold bar! Now that is quality.
The pages are sewn to perfection by hand and lays flat from Genesis to Revelation. It even has overcast stitching in the front and back of the Bible for extra support. This edition also comes with 3 long and thick ribbons to help you keep your place while reading. Normally Cambridge Bibles have a tendency to have ribbons that fray, this edition does not suffer from sub par ribbon selection.
Cambridge is so concerned about quality with these Lectern Bibles I believe, because of the cost of the investment. Cambridge even goes out of the way to give you a special letter with the Bible to tell you the special care they take in making these Bibles.
Just know that if you decide to purchase one of these that you will not be disappointed
thanks,
Be Encouraged:-) -
Murray Loewen5 Stars Out Of 5October 29, 2005Murray LoewenThis review was written for KJV Pulpit Bible with the Apocrypha, Goatskin Black. This bible is simply monumental. The paper, the leather, the print quality, and the gilding is everything one would expect from Cambridge. The edition itself is very plain, with only cross references. Remember this is a lectern bible: it's specialized use is public reading in church, so it is very large and heavy, with large, highly visible print. It is an excellent addition to a collection, if you are so inclined.

Phil ROklahoma CityAge: 55-65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Classic large print reference BibleMay 23, 2014Phil ROklahoma CityAge: 55-65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for KJV Lectern Bible, Goatskin leather, Burgundy. This Cambridge Lectern KJV Bible just oozes with quality, exclusivity and utilitarian readability. The epitome of the perfect "coffee table" Bible. The goatskin over boards cover gives this Bible that extra touch of elegance and is worth the extra price IMHBAO. The weight of the pages is almost parchment style. Very nice.
The print size, font, and clarity are phenomenal and make reading this Bible a pleasure. The heft and weight of the Book is substantial. I can see why it is the perfect lectern Bible for public reading in the church, but it also suits my needs as a coffee table Bible that is always handy to read. Makes a great conversation item for your guests which leads to spiritual discussions.
As for the three typos mentioned in another review, they hardly affect the meaning and understanding of the passages in question, and do nothing to take away from the outstanding quality of this Book. I know of no other publisher who makes one like this, so it is still a 5-star Bible IMHBAO, "warts" and all! -

Dan Stewart5 Stars Out Of 5MagnificentJuly 3, 2022Dan StewartQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for KJV Pulpit Bible with the Apocrypha, Goatskin Black. The reviews below cover the details, so this is to add another "highest recommendation" for owning and reading this magnificent book of the Bible. Since the particular Bible is so large and heavy, I read it at my desk in the morning for devotional purposes. There is no eye strain and the reader feels he / she is in a grand old chapel with the saints of the ages, enjoying the Word of God. Highest recommended.
