Master Books Unwrapping the Pharaohs: How Egyptian Archaeology Confirms the Biblical Timeline--Book and DVD

Egypt still captures our imagination. The pharaohs, the mummies, the pyramids - such are the subjects of much mystery and imagination, and some have direct correlation to biblical events. Abraham, Joseph, Moses and Jesus each spent part of their lives in Egypt. But how do the biblical accounts line up with historical and archaeological evidence for this empire?

By taking great pains in reconstructing the history and chronology of the entire sweep of Egyptian dynastic history John Ashton and David Down restore the timeline to its original place as a support for biblical history. Illustrated throughout with beautiful full-color photographs of artifacts, structures and art (along with a reproduction of the black and white photos from Zakaria Goneim's discoveries of the "Lost Pyramid" in the 1950's), Unwrapping the Pharaohs presents a wealth of information for anyone interested in these issues.

I have been fascinated with archaeology since I was a little child. But much like the questions I had about where dinosaurs fit into the Bible, I felt that the Scriptures must have been in error because the Egyptian chronologies didn't line up with the stories of the Bible. Praise the Lord for those who have taught me differently...using Scriptures and books such as this one. If you have ever questioned the authority of Scripture based on archaeology or accepted timelines and chronologies, you must purchase this book. The photos are great, and the information is mind-blowing. A bonus DVD is included with my book, but I've not had time to review it yet...

We loved the colored pages, which were loaded with historical photos, maps and charts. This book was similar in layout as Unveiling the Kings of Israel, and both resources share how archaeology confirms the biblical timeline. One of my favorite parts of the book is the timeline section at the beginning of each chapter, the graph shows the placement of biblical history along side the history of Egypt. So it's easy to see that King Khufu was ruling when Abraham visited Egypt in Genesis 12:10.
The only 'con' that comes to mind is of the Egyptian culture, this book does not hide the paganism that was deeply imbedded in society. Some graphics may need additional clothing, depending on family preference.
I would recommend Unwrapping the Pharaohs for the high school student and adult, possibly for younger children depending upon your personal convictions. Truly a wonderful resource for history.

This is a fascinating book. Very, very well written. I would reccomend it in a heart beat. I am ordering a second copy to use as a witnessing tool to someone who said they were into the study of pyramids.

This is a very informative book, that is written so that the common man can understand it. Very interesting infomation, that you don't get from evolutionists and atheists. Great photos, too. My husband and I, are enjoying it. Hardbound with DVD, great price.

I recommend this book with accompany DVD to all who are really interested in understanding the correlation between Biblical events and archeological finds. In the DVD David Down takes you on-site and describes the historical events tying them to specific Biblical passages. The DVD supplied is the first of a series of eight DVD's. You can go to his website -Digging Up the Past- to find out more about them. I purchased the series and am thoroughly enjoying learning more about the past and Biblical History.

A very readable book that has several subject lines. These subjects include the history of Egyptian Pharaohs, pyramids and how they interact with the timeline of the Bible.Although occassionally technical terms are used, they are always explained. My favorite section concerned what happened to Egypt after the plagues of Moses. It's easy to forget, when you read the Biblical account, that the plagues would have a long lasting effect on the country. The book uses many photographs and charts to illustrate, and explain. The DVD that is included supports what you read in the book with on the spot commentary by Mr. Downs.
