Paraclete Press Echoes of Eternity: Listening to the Father, Volume 1

Our oldest Christian traditions invite us to listen as well as speak when we pray, yet often "the still, small voice" of God seems barely audible, drowned out by the many cares and concerns of the day. Echoes of Eternity presents 365 brief meditations gathered from one pastor's faithful daily practice of listening to God. Each reading includes a Scripture verse and encouraging words that speak of Christ as our anchor, the treasure of God's love, and His lasting peace. Since its original publication in 1996, Echoes of Eternity has helped thousands of people to hear the voice of God in their own lives.

What it says in the introduction is so true: "If any one hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me...He who has an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." (Rev 3:20b, 22) What the Spirit has said to one who has listened is shared in the hope that these impressions will convey "what the Spirit says" to the hearts of those who read them and will encourage others to "open the door" to hear for themselves what the Spirit is saying. I came back to Christ this year after having moved across the U.S. and then loosing my job. But through this trial, which continues, I've gotten words of encouragement, hope, faith, love and companionship through this devotional. I've also shared it with a close friend of mine. Highly recommended.
