Multnomah Books Whispers in the Wind, Orphan Trains Trilogy #3

New York City, 1871. Fourteen-year-old Dane Weston comes home to an empty apartment. A gang of teenage boys has murdered his family, shattering his dream of becoming a doctor. Driven to the streets with other homeless waifs, Dane's new occupation is begging for food. Worse things await--misunderstandings, imprisonment, and separation from his pretty orphan friend, Tharyn. The gentle breezes of the country seem worlds away, but still they sigh the poor boy's name.

Whispers in the Wind held my attention from beginning to end. It is very well written. I felt with all the characters in their struggles. Dana and Tharyn were my favorites. Al and Joanna you succeeded in writing another wonderful story true to life.

I was disappointed in this book and this series. I did enjoy the glimpse into history provided in the telling of the story, however, I found the writing style very distracting. I did not find that the dialog was believable.

This was a very, very WONDERFUL book!I absolutely loved it.This book was definitely as fantastic as the other two in the series and I loved all of them.I also liked all the characters.Dane was definitely my favorite character .I quickly fell in love with him.He was such a wonderful person and was sooo kind and loving.I loved the way he treated Tharyn. He was so sweet and understading. If you are looking for a good series to read, this is the one you NEED to read.It is the BEST series you could read.If you decide to read this book you will definitely want to read the frontier doctor trilogy because they come after it.

We started reading this trilogy to our children 12, 9, 9, 7, & 5 and felt comfortable reading the text to them. This book in particular was my favorite. All the other books I would have given a 5 as well, but this one I want to read again and again. God is the # 1 focus throughout the entire book. Committment, motivation, loyalty, perserverance, and every one of the fruits of the Spirit are displayed in the text. What an amazing way (outside of scripture) to show the way Christ has called us to be in our character. Everyone who knew Dane, knew he was a christian and that he wasn't ashamed to live it out and talk about it. He didn't always understand in the beginning why he was facing these particular trials but he knew the scripture Romans 8:28! Good job Al & Joanna.
