The Afternoon of Life is written for women in the middle years of their lives. Through humor, transparency, and biblical wisdom Fitzpatrick reminds women in mid-life that God's supreme purpose in bringing us through so many changes is to glorify himself and sanctify us. blessed mama to nine
My husband got me this for my 45th birthday, because he knows I like the author. While she is talking more to mothers and wives whose children are grown or nearly so, and I am nursing a baby, I was encouraged greatly with this book. It gave me things to think about with having older teens in my home, issues with my own aging parents, things to think about regarding marriage, and with dealing with my own aging body. This was a fast read and now I will lend it to a friend.

Review 2 for The Afternoon of Life: Finding Purpose and Joy in Midlife

I just finished reading Elyse Fitzpatrick's book, The Afternoon of Life. Even though we know the physical and mental changes we are going through are normal, it is encouraging to know that others are experiencing the same things, and also to be reminded of our Lord's orchestration of and purpose for our lives, preparing us for our eternity with Him! I am currently in the midst of most of what Elyse has written in this book. I'm looking forward to a future with daughter-in-laws and grandchildren (hopefully), but everything else was like looking in a mirror. With laughter and tears I enjoyed every chapter!
