Shelly Graham has moved home to Glenbrooke, where she's flooded with memories of her high school sweetheart, who took off for Europe after they broke up. But when Shelly travels to Germany, she suddenly runs into the former boyfriend who has filled her thoughts. Learning that Jonathan is engaged, Shelly hides her feelings for him. After returning home, however, she must face these feelings, especially after her path crosses Jonathan's yet again. Only this time, if they can find the strength to be honest, they just might discover what God has in store.

Clouds by Robin Jones Gunn
Robin Jones Gunn has been one of my favorite authors for quite some time. It is amazing how she is able to capture your attention and present her readers with a way to immerse themselves within the story.
Clouds is an amazing love story about a young woman who never fell out of love with her old high school sweetheart. More importantly, Shelly discovered how much more in love she was with her Savior. Shelly Graham is a flight attendant who relocated to her childhood home. Due to budget cuts, she finds herself with several new and drastic changes to her life. This brings her to Germany where she meets her old high school sweetheart. Thinking she can rekindle her flame with Jonathan she tries to reconnect with him. Unfortunately things do not turn out the way Shelly had intended. Through this change of plans Shelly finds herself wanting and craving for a certain void to be filled. As a result, Shelly comes face to face with her loving Savior and falls more deeply in love. All is not lost between Jonathan and Shelly. Their paths cross again.
I loved this story! Shelly is such a likeable character. It is easy to fall in love with her and her new passion for God. You hurt when she hurts and laugh when she laughs. This book will give you a great and relaxing read. Additionally, this book will encourage your own walk with God. It will encourage you to seek your Savior with an abundant love.

Robin Jones Gunn is a treasure, and I always grow when I read one of her books. Her stories entertain and go deep.
I recently received Clouds, the story of Shelly and Jonathan. They grew up next door to each other and were best friends. As they grew older they began to date until Shelly decided to go off and pursue her dream of becoming a flight attendant.

I enjoyed the book. It really showed the bond between sisters. It wasn't a complicated to story to follow. to me it was a classic romantic story with the true fairy tale ending. Shelly finds herself wanting to see the world while her first love wants nothing more than to settle down but his drive to make her happy has him letting her go. As fate often does, Shelly finds herself back in her hometown and finds Jonathan engaged. I received this book for a fair and honest review.

Clouds is part of a series of 8 books that have to do with characters in a town called Glenbrooke. This is the first novel I have read in the series and I didn't feel like I was missing anything from another book. I really enjoyed reading this book. I thought the character development between Shelly and her childhood friend Jonathon was well done. You really felt the connection between them. You of course want them to be together but know there will be a twist. I thought the way the book was woven together made it a delightful read. I will even say I'm surprised I liked this book so much because normally contemporary romance is my least favorite genre. Definitely a worthwhile summer or cold winter's day read!

Clouds is a novel by Robin Jones Gunn and is the fifth book in The Glenbrooke Series. Description: Shelly Graham has moved home to Glenbrooke, where she's flooded with memories of her high school sweetheart who took off for Europe after they broke up. But when Shelly travels to Germany, she suddenly runs into the former boyfriend who has filled her thoughts. Learning that Jonathan is engaged, Shelly hides her feelings for him. After returning home, however, she must face these feelings, especially after her path crosses Jonathan's yet again. Only this time, if they can find the strength to be honest, they just might discover what God has in store. My thoughts: This book is an easy read which you could bring for some light reading at the beach or on a plane ride. Although clouds is the fifth book in a series, you don't have to read the other books to understand the plot or characters as this is a stand alone book. The ending seemed kind of predictable to me but I would recommend for anyone who likes sweet (but not sappy) books with a happy ending.

"Clouds" is the 5th book in the Glenbrooke Series by Robin Jones Gunn. In this story, the marjority of it is not in Glenbrooke, it only ends up there.
When Jonathan Renfield and Shelly Graham were children, they were inseparable. Then end up falling in love and dating in high school, but then something happens to make Shelly 'run' to her dream job of being an flight attendant.
Like some dreams, what was thought to be the perfect job, turns out to be less than perfect. Shelly returns home and starts to think of Jonathan. The end up meeting meeting when she takes a trip to Germany with her sister. But she also meets his fiance.
This book is one that you just want to keep reading to the end. Robin writes in such a way that you can picture what is going on, the scenery, etc.
I am loving these series. So far it looks like BFB is only offering the odd number ones, but they can be read without needing to be in order, so that is okay.

"Clouds" by Robin Jones Gunn is the second book I’ve read in the eight book "Glenbrooke Series." I’m not reading the books in order, but each books stands alone. They’re simply sweet stories about God drawing people to Himself and to each other, with subtle lessons and comparisons on both counts.In fact, in "Clouds," the parallels between God’s relationship with Shelly and Jonathan’s relationship with Shelly almost, not quite, but almost, made this particular story a parable.
I love that. And I’m truly enjoying this series of books.
In "Clouds," Shelly leaves her childhood sweetheart behind in order to chase her personal dreams. When these don’t work out the way she’d planned, though, she misses Jonathan and wonders if God may be working to reunite them. A surprise encounter convinces her this isn’t so after all. So Shelly works to rebuild her life—and discovers more than she’d ever thought to dream.
As a bonus, Gunn weaves some of her travel experiences into this story--as she did in her "Sisterchicks" books. Readers get an up-close-and-personal view of Heidelberg, Germany and a little, tiny taste of overseas ministries to American military kids.
If you enjoy happily-ever-after romances, I recommend "Clouds" and the other books from the "Glenbrooke Series" to you. Thank you, Waterbrook Multnomah Publishers for sending a complimentary copy for this honest review.

If you have not already done so, DON'T read the summary of the story. I never do - then I can be surprised. And this book was FULL of surprises that I am glad I was not expecting. God moved so beautifully in the lives of childhood friends after they grew up and went their separate ways - following their individual dreams. How He works in their lives is truly awesome - but then God IS awesome, isn't He? There is travel, sightseeing and excitement for two sisters, and the unexpected for one of them. A truly wonderful and very romantic story. I feel you will love it as I did. I was a bit sorry when it ended...
I think this is fitting for teens or adults.

Clouds by Robin Jones Gunn. This novel is another in Ms. Gunn’s Glenbrook series. It is the story of two children, Shelly and Jonathon, who grow up living next door to each other and gradually fall in love. Also as will happen things don’t work out and the two of them go their separate ways after a big fight. The two never find another love like their first love but in a twist of fate while vacationing in Germany with her sister Shelly runs into Jonathan and his fiancée. Shelly has to work through that she has never stopped loving Jonathan. This story is how God works his miracles in lives and how Shelly learns to live on in her life drawing closer to God and all that she has in her life. Shelly has always hidden her feelings and avoided talking about them but her sister encourages her to face them and learn to deal with them as a part of herself.
This book is a part of the Glenbrook series but it easily stands alone. I had only read Echoes but it didn’t matter and I truly enjoyed reading this love story. It is not sappy. I felt like I could have met any of these characters in my home town. I am so glad that there are writers like Ms. Gunn who can write a love story that I can read and enjoy and then pass it right on down to my grandchildren.

Clouds signify many different things to different people. Some folks may consider them a nuisance to a day of catching some sunshine on a sandy beach. Others may view them as beautiful mountains of hope. Still others might look up at an overcast sky and see a comforting blanket that reminds them of marshmallows bobbing up and down in their mom's homemade hot cocoa.
In Clouds, flight attendant Shelly Graham thinks "no human could mar their perfection." (page 50) They offer her a subtle reminder of God's perfect love as her life crumbles into an enormous pile of tattered dreams. Her dream job is threatened by airline cutbacks. Her little sister gets to live in Shelly's dream cabin. When she bumps into her childhood best friend and true love, reality splashes ice cold water on her dream future: Jonathan's engaged to be married! Just as the clouds in the sky adapt to God's weather plans, can Shelly adapt to the crushing news pouring all around her? Will a journey into her family's history spark an inner expedition to a Love stronger and steadier than the one she lost?
Clouds by Robin Jones Gunn offers an innocence that is so often lost in today's modern world. Even though this fifth installment in The Glenbrooke Series is a contemporary tale, it still manages to take us back to a slower paced, more meaningful time when families were close-knit and pleasantly, if somewhat irritatingly, meddlesome and everyone hopes for a happily-ever-after. This is by far the sweetest, most heartfelt story I've read all year, and I look forward to reading more of The Glenbrooke Series by Robin Jones Gunn. This novel provides a fresh perspective on God's way of working things out according to His divine plan.
Robin beautifully combined location and history and character to weave a truly touching masterpiece. I was quickly endeared to Shelly and her treasure box of long-forgotten memories. My emotions were on the line nearly as much as Shelly's as I experienced the highs and lows of adventure and lost love right along with her.
Here are two quotes from Clouds that struck my heart as particularly meaningful:
"Sometimes to find the key that will unlock the future, we have to see what keys we buried in the past." (page 37)
"What has been is in the past. What is forms the present. What will be remains to be seen." (page 134)

Jonathan Renfield and Shelley Graham grew up as the best of friends. Unfortunately, in high school, harsh words were spoken and they went their separate ways.
Five years later, Shelley has achieved her dream of becoming an airline attendant. Suddenly, she feels like something is missing, so she takes some time off to go to Germany with her sister. Her world is turned upside-down when she runs into Jonathan with his fiancé. Her mind is filled with thoughts of what might have been.
Take this interesting journey down memory lane with Shelley as she remembers the past and thinks about what could be possible!!!
