P & R Publishing Salvation Through Judgment and Mercy: The Gospel According to Jonah

Though simple enough for a child to grasp, the book of Jonah is an extremely subtle and complex work full of wonderful literary artistry mixed with many layers of meaning. This study presents the book of Jonah as part of the unfolding, unified story of redemption pointing to Christ. Those interested in how the Old Testament points toward Christ will appreciate this new study of Jonah.

Overall this work was average. Nothing extremely bad but nothing extremely insightful either. I purchased this to compliment some other commentaries I read along the way as I preached through the book of Jonah. Estelle does have a few nuggets but many of them are merely quotes from Jack Sasson in his treatment of Jonah in the Anchor Bible Commentary. Overall I recommend Estelle for a lay person looking for a easy read on Jonah.
