Multnomah Books Creative Prayer: Speaking the Language of God's Heart

A young man is deeply in love with a young woman. He pours out his heart, singing to her, writing poems for her, giving her beautiful flowers. And how does she express her love back to him? She talks, usually briefly. And that's all.

That's an imbalanced relationship, but it's an accurate picture of our communication with God. God speaks with pictures, symbols, music, tastes, smells, and all the rich diversity of creation. So why do we express ourselves to Him with nothing more than words?

In Creative Prayer, Chris Tiegreen encourages us to communicate more intimately with God by speaking the language of His heart. Drawing on Bible stories, psalms, and historical examples, Tiegreen reminds us that our praises and petitions can reflect the unique gifts God has given us.

Singing. Painting. Cymbals. Dancing. God has always encouraged his people to respond to him in bold, visual, active, and energetic ways. As God shows us every day in a thousand ways, real love cannot be contained.

I highly recommend this book! It was exactly what I was looking for: inspiration and motivation to be all that I can for Christ Jesus! He is the author of creation, so it makes sense that He is prolific! You will not be sorry if you get this book, especially those of you who are different in the body of Christ....He made you that way for His Glory!Penny

I highly recommend this book if you are in the least artistic or have been squelched by well meaning Christians. It motivates me to be who the Lord made me to be, which is unique in the gifts He has given me. There is only one me and God made me that way!I love this book and read it often. It is anointed and I praise God for Chris Tiegreen!Penny Allen

Having been told all my Christian walk that faith is not based on feelings, I always wondered why then could I not separate how I felt with the truth that I believed. This book shows through scripture that they can and do go together. This answered why how just going through the motions failed to satisfy. We are truly to love God with our whole heart, mind, soul and strength. And this can includes so much more than tradition sometimes allows.
