Psalms brought to us in a personal way. The questions
promote much discussion on a personal basis. I like that
because it shows us how the Bible applies to this day and
age.

Max Lucado always gives food for thought in all his books, and as a Bible study lewader he brings to mind similar experiences from my own ministry. I will use this for our studies.

If you're looking for an in-depth study of scripture, DON'T BUY THIS BIBLE STUDY. I hesistate to even refer to it as a "Bible Study". It was more like a "Max Lucado's thoughts" study. Each lesson begins with a passage from Psalms, then is followed up with 3 or 4 questions that supposedely relate to the text, then a paragraph from a study Bible or book (usually by Lucado) that has little to no visible relation to the scripture just presented, and then questions relating to said paragraph. there was very little overall connection to the scripture, and the focus of the questions were more just things that Lucado had come up with. It seems as though Lucado formed the Bible Study around the thoughts and ideas that he wanted to address, rather than around the scripture that we are supposed to be studying! It was very wishy-washy and disappointing for me. The questions were also often very general and shallow at times. Don't get me wrong; I found nothing wrong with most of the things Lucado had to say, and if he had wanted to write a book using his ideas and back them up with Scripture, that would be just fine with me! But I just hate that he seems to loosely grab for some passage that might sort of have something to do with his messages/ideas and then call it a Bible Study. Very dissapointing. I'd recommend "Understanding eternal security" by Charles Stanley if you're looking for a good, solid, scripture-based Bible Study.

A great study as helpful to the new Christian as to the veteran believer. Max Lucado has a way of breaking down complex ideas into easy to grasp lessons.
