Prosperity gospel. Joel Osteen glorifies man, not God! 2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires

Simply one of the best non-fiction books written in recent years. People will argue and fight over what the bible means until time erases us all, all claim to know the right way. Joel simply tells us that God loves us like a loving father and wants the best for us. I see truth, faith, and love in Joel's words, and I am thankful for his inspiration in my life. All of the negative reviews on this book remind me of the persecution Jesus faced when he preached the same love to an entrenched church of laws. Thanks Joel, your book is a great blessing.

Listen to God's message in everything Osteen preaches and do not listen to non-faith based people who are mistakenly naive accusing him of ridiculous things. Osteen preaches how to live the Christian life based on the Bible.

Joel Osteen is a false prophet and false teacher. It's NOT ABOUT US! What do we not understand about this? It is ALL about God, it is NOT about "our dreams" or "OUR best life now", but its about dying to self.. Literally killing your own desires and dreams and taking up your cross and denying yourself in order to follow Christ. It's not about a Christianized version of the American Dream (which is leading people straight to hell) that is what Joel Osteen preaches and writes about. The "health and wealth" gospel is a false one and Osteen is apart of it. Beware this wolf in sheeps clothing....

I'm surprised at the several (minority) critic's total rejection of Joel Osteen's enthusiasm for living. Do these people live in caves and wear sack cloth? Do they not rely on the inventions of dreamers? How hypocritical to badmouth a motivational success story yet be unable to live day-to-day without modern conveniences designed by "sinners." Osteen doesn't pretend to be a biblical scholar, yet has brought me closer to God's teaching than any dozen self-righteous so-called Christians.

Joel Osteen is an encourager that loves God and has a pure heart. We need more optimists in the world like him, lifting encouraging and motivating us to be our best and seek God's best for our life. God wants us to use our gifts. Joel's gift one that encourages us to see the positive side of obeying God's word. He wants to help change all the negative into positive. Although we have trials and tribulations he knows that when we choose to hope and believe in Gods word that the end result will be good. Anyone that seeks God's word is going to love those who represent God in such a beautiful light. He is full of JOY and CARE, not for himself but of Love for God and people. Love covers sin and finds good.. Love gives and Love lifts others and praises God. He is a motivational speaker that is a Christian. Joel is using his life how he should. When you give so much honor to God by motivating others it has to come back. He is blessed and we all are if we choose to be so. Joel encourages you to live your best life now because God loves us... The world will fill you up with negativity, don't listen to them..listen to the ones who bring you closer to God. Pride comes before a fall but humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and he will lift you up. This is A WONDERFUL BOOK, full of encouragement and LOVE.

I love this book. It made me feel that God loved me and cared about the little details of my life. God loves us to think positive and do our best and appreciate Him for everything He does. This book really shows you how to have a better life and have a personal relationship with God. We love the Joel Osteen book at work and we copy his stuff to encourage each other all the time.

I absolutely LOVE Joel Osteen's teachings! He is WISE in his approach. No wordly person wants to hear the hell and doom, even though it applies to them. You have to be separate from the world but also be wise in ministering to them,Joel does teach that simply through the Word. Jesus ministered to sinners, He said that he wasn't there to reach those that were already found, but those who where lose. And to my knowledge, to lost people, the Word is like another language. They start off on milk and in kindergarten. You have to speak simple language that they can understand and relate to, to encourage them to come put of what they are in, speak the Word to them and pray for them. Remember how you got saved? Come on saints! Stop bashing our own and let's start bashing the devil who is gaining more souls in hell while you are making negative comments.I want my best life now AND (better) in eternity. God promises me these things while I am her ON EARTH! Keep your mouths and comments off of this young man if you are not encouraging or lifting him up! (Just as you would want someone to do with you!). Joel, I have your back in prayer!

Every body loves Joel Osteen because he teaches exactly what people loves to hear, and not what God says. The "gospel" according Osteen glorifies men because it teaches about self-fulfillment and self-love. But the Gospel according Jesus is about self-denial, and to take up the cross daily. Osteen does what Paul condemned: Galatians 1:10 For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.

I absolutely love listening to and reading Pastor Joel's information. He is definitely a God-led positive leader for this world today. What person or Christian doesn't want to be happy. I know that I am not happy when I am going through but if I can be taught by someone who has already been through, then let me read his book. Who looks forward to trails? I know that I don't but when I do go through them I'm glad that I have someone like Pastor Joel who was inspired by God to write something to help me through it. Come on, let's not be negative, always bashing others, act like we never sin or are perfect Christians and support one another. Or, if we don't support one another, let's not let the world see us OPENLY disagree and show division in the Body.By the way, Pastor Joel, if you are reading, your television program encourages me and changes my negative mindset EVERY TIME, guaranteed. For all others, if you are about to write a negative comment, check to see why you are really writing it. It's origin may have nothing to do with this book...

First of all, I have to wonder if some of the reviews that are so negative come from people who have actually read the book, or who just happen to not like Joel Osteen. I have a hard time understanding why so many people attack this man for being an encouragement to the body of Christ. I am the parent of a mildly autistic child and there are days that are extremely difficult. I found this book to be very inspirational and encouraging. The best chapters in the book were those that dealt with finding strength through adversity and trusting God when life is tough and doesn't make sense. I found none of the nonsense that many of the negative reviewers left pertaining to "getting what you want" and "living to be happy." I live daily in a place that could leave me drained physically and emotionally, however, what kind of a witness would that make me for Christ? This book is a treasure and it really did help me find God's presence in my daily situation so that when someone asks me to give a response to the hope I have within me (even with an autistic child) I can answer them with joy.

I am so sorry to read all the negative reviews written here. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I find it hard to believe the degree of criticism! Joel Osteen delivers his message through positive motivation and love, as I would imagine our Lord to do as well.

I have read Your Best Life Now twice. It is a great book for every Christian to read. After reading it I wanted my entire church to have a copy to read. As a minister, teacher, child of God and Christian Filmmaker is hits on many of the positive qualities Christians all need to know. It is very encouraging, uplifting and has some of the same perspectives as the new bestselling sensation, The Secret. Everything in Joel Osteen's book is attainable. He writes like he preaches from the heart. Everyone in the entire world needs to read this book over and over again.

This book is not all garbage as some may want us to believe, but it has a dangerous content I believe. What better way to draw people to the faith with promises of a care-free life some may say. Yet, this is not what Jesus is teaching us in the Gospels nor in His life. Many a manager would scratch his head were he to manage Jesus in His days. He was not known to be a crowd pleaser with His statements of dying to self, taking up your Cross, loving your enemies, calling churchleaders hypocrytes, selling all you have, etc. He was known for His compassion with the lost. He taught about the best life that is yet to come, the thing unseen, and the struggle to get there caused by life's distractions. Personally, this book was just that, a distraction. What is it to you? I pray that many will be drawn to the Lord through Joel's teaching and after the first steps of faith abandon his shallowness and seek for better, i.e. more nutricious, spiritual food.

This book was not a quick read for me, as God was working in my life, on a chapter by chapter basis. When one looks at the content; 1. Enlarge Your Vision 2. Develop A Healthy Self-Image 3. Discover The Power of Your Thoughts 4. Let Go Of The Past 5. Find Strength Through Adversity 6. Live to Give! and 7. Choose To Be Happy. It dealt with a part of my life that was hindering my relationship with God and with others. God used this book, along with scripture to speak to me, as to how he wanted to work in me, and change my life. My favorite segments were Part 4: Let Go Of The Past and Part 5: Find Strength Through Adversity. These chapters dealt with me with conviction, which resulted in prayer and change. I am grateful for this book, as it fit a need within my life.

If you want to read about your best life now read Fox's Book of Martyrs. The blood of the martyrs puts to shame this sort of fluffy happy talk.

I too, am shocked at all of the criticism! I found this book to be absolutely enlightening and life changing! Whether you've recently found your Christian faith or you've been a believer for life, this book has something for everybody. It's a very quick read and is full of positive and supportive information! I bought copies of this book in bulk and give them to family and friends at every chance! Lakewood Church wouldn't be one of the largest churches in the world if Mr. Osteen and his father didn't have a healthy, positive grasp on the Christian faith!!!!!!!!!

It is true that Christians should live more fulfilled lives than non-Christians. But this variant of a health and wealth gospel is sure to lead people astray. God does not promise you prosperity in this life! What's strikingly absent from Joel's teachings are any mention of sin and the need for redemption. The world is full of people who do not have self-esteem problems; they have sin problems and need a Savior. In short, this book is total garbage. Steer clear!
