My family and I use this study series for our family Bible study. I have never seen my family so eager to study the Word of God. I would recommend this study for anyone who wants to take their Bible study to the next level.

These books are for our Bible study class. We have done almost all of John MacArthur's New Testament studies, and love the "verse by verse" analysis. We were disappointed in his Old Testament studies. The 12 week study is broken into 4 sections. They study first the History, then the Characters, then the Themes, and finally a summary. Very frustrating for us, the teachers. We feel we are teaching some of the same material over and over. We prefer the verse by verse approach. Although we will do 4 of these (Genesis and Exodus) studies, we will probably look for something else after this. We are seasoned teachers with university level teaching experience, so it is not our lack of experience that frustrates us. It is the format. We were in the Old Testament series for several years, and expected the same format.

I have done MacArthur's study guides before. These are wonderful to do, on your own, at home. I am learning SO much from the scriptures about Abraham. I thought I knew the story of Abraham, but there is much more to be learned from his life. I hadnt thought about tying his life into the coming of Jesus in the NT. Pastor MacArthur is very thorough in his teaching. I recommend these study guides.
