Apologia Educational Ministries Exploring Creation with Biology (2nd Edition), Textbook

Apologia Educational Ministries, Inc. presents the second edition of its Exploring Creation With Biology course. The first edition has been used by thousands of students in all 50 states and 13 other countries. Now, this award-winning biology course is even better!

This course is designed to be the student's first high school science course. Exploring Creation With Biology is a college-prep biology course that provides a detailed introduction to the methods and concepts of general biology. Heavily emphasizing the vocabulary of biology, it provides the student with a strong background in the scientific method, the five-kingdom classification scheme, microscopy, biochemistry, cellular biology, molecular and Mendelian genetics, evolution, dissection, and ecosystems. It also provides a complete survey of the five kingdoms in Creation. Please note that this course does not contain a discussion of human anatomy and physiology. Most college biology professors do not consider it to be a part of a solid, college-prep biology course. Students who take and understand this course will be very well-prepared for a tough university biology course.

The student text contains all student material, on-your-own questions and solutions, laboratory exercises, and chapter study guides. Color illustrations and diagrams.

For 9th Grade students.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree and I wished that my first biology book was this well written. I am currently teaching a high school class at my house and find this material easy use and teach from.

Great depth for this grade. Depending on your child and goals, this book may need to be tailored. We've enjoyed it but some areas have been learning the concepts only. Well worth the money and will con't to use Apologia.

We got this book because the sale was good, and we need it for next year. One of my boys using it next year was looking at it and seemed kind of excited at the prospect. They like the Physical Science book by J. Wile. I was just pleased to get another of these fine science books at a good price. ;)

This curriculum seems to go out of it's way to be fair to all the controversial issues in the science field without being overbearing. The author often uses humor which helps make a sometimes dry subject a lot more interesting. My student is actually "looking forward" to the Chemistry and Physics courses. Who knew?

Great Homeschool Science book. We used the 8th grade physical science books last year and my daughter loved it. It is written to keep kids focused and has some humorous parts in it that will make you laugh.

I really like the information, and the overall contents of the Biology. I would like the set to have a daily plan outline for the student to follow.

Excellent biology textbook. I have a MS in Biology and have taught high school for 15 years. This book presents information in an excellent format and does a great job showing the problems and inconsistencies with evolution. When comparing it to my state curriculum and current textbook, this book teaches more than I can in my regular classroom.

This is a complete curriculum for the self-schooled. My son enjoys science and has excelled using this curriculum. The unit reviews are key in remembering key points of the material. I would recommend this for self-motivated students and parents who are not "science" people. We will continue to use Apologia for science as my son progresses through science in high school.

As a student at a Christian school, I thought "Finally, a Christian biology book." But after a semester, I realized that this book has several spelling errors and at times seems cheaply made. 2.5 stars for being a Christian book with decent info.
