I think this is a good qualty Bible in a great translastion (NKJV). If you look at other chronological Bibles you may see there is a difference in where they place certain text. The NLT Life Application Chronological Bible is also very good. I am still getting use to the layout as it is very different having the books out of order as I have always had them. However, I am enjoying it and especially reading the Psalms in the midst of the history is appealing.

I understand the logic of trying to get input from secular scholars to bring a balanced opinion in the sources, but when you're using the word of God, a secular scholar has a lot of things that tamper with their conclusions. Some of the study notes are obviously written from a viewpoint of the non-existence of the supernatural, and of the worship of Yahweh being just another ancient religion. This severely detracts from the credibility of this bible, as you can't take a lot of the information inside to the bank because of the biases held by the contributors.

I have always wonder why events in the Gospels did not follow the same order. The Chronilogical Bible helps to explain this and gives me a deeper understanding of the life of Christ.

I've been reading through this Bible for my 2013 Bible readings, including all their notes. As I expected, in the Genesis parts although they point out points in harmony between the Bible history and the latest agreed-upon archeological findings, they also point out points of discrepancy; but instead of leaving it at that they stealthily suggest Archeology is the ultimate authority (forget the fact archeologists have been wrong numerous times and eventually change their mind to confirm the Bible over and over).
But even outside Genesis it gets bolder in its statements questionining the Bible's accuracy, such as in page 146 in the notes transitioning to the book of Numbers, where it makes a statement that Edom was not numerous like Israel (but makes no references to support that), or that the word "thousands" in Hebrew can mean "clans" in this context, which no reputable Hebrew scholar I've ever heard of has claimed. Inded, looking closer at the team who contributed to this Bible, I see several of the "higher critic" type. Therefore I do not recommend this Bible for that reason. If you read this Bible's notes, be VERY discerning; do not give to a still maturing believer!

Beautiful Bible, NKJV seems fine - this is my first time to read it, BUT the notes are lacking and anything helpful is an exception. The historical notes are all from secular sources and sometime downright ungodly. The chronology is also very very poor in areas. For instance the book of Job is way too late and anyone who reads Job would know that it was written before the Law and with minimal research would find that it should be around or before the time of Abraham.
I keep reading, but considering just throwing it away and starting over in a new Bible with helpful and not misleading notes. I've read other chronological Bibles and really enjoyed the perspective it gives, but this one is a waste of paper.
If you ignore the notes and read the Bible itself fine, but then you can do that with something that does not call itself a study Bible.

This is the second NKJV Chronological Study Bible that i have purchased. Now my wife and I will read it together. It has tremendous historical insights into the text for a more complete understanding of it's context.

I am so very pleased with this purchase. I had the Chronological Bible on my Wish List for so long and just when I was about to give up hopes of owning one, I found this great deal on Christianbook.com. I have been purchasing material from them for many years, and has never been disappointed! Would not have expected to be with this Bible. the size and weight is nice. The leather-soft cover is beautiful, soft, pliable--not stiff at all. Inside, the paper is of the high-quality "Bible leaf" beautiful paper. The pages are gold on the edges, which reminds me so much of the first Bible I owned. The box is really great, makes you want to carry the box around (smile). Now, I wish I had chosen to engrave it! This Bible is well-worth the price! I recommend it to any student of the Word. You won't be disappointed.

It is a real help studying the Old Testiment. There is so many events and writings that it is difficult to sort out a time line of events using a standard Bible.
With the Chronological Bible you obtain a better perspective of the events and when they happened.

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely LOVE Study Bibles. I have close to 40 Bibles and I read them consistently. I like to read from different translations and compare various features provided from each of my Study Bibles. I am about mid-way through this particular Bible, and I am not sure what to think of it. While I do enjoy the NKJV (very literal word for word translation) I am a bit unsure of what the authors of this product set out to accomplish. On the one hand, the translation, chronology and publishing company are very conservative. On the other hand, the articles were written from a very liberal perspective. For instance, I was reading about the repentance of Judah under the leadership of King Josiah and the article on that page actually referred to Judah's faith as a "cult". I had to read over it many times to make sure I had read it correctly. Throughout this Bible there are many articles that are helpful, but I have been disturbed more than once by the liberal slant of the writings. If you are solid in the faith, then you will find this Bible to be interesting. However, I will not recommend this Bible to anyone that is not grounded in the faith. If you're planning on purchasing a Chronological Study Bible, perhaps you should get the Life Application Chronological Study Bible that Tyndale put out recently. The translation is not as faithful to the Greek and Hebrew, but the study notes and articles are more conservative and applicable to the Christian life.

I had wanted to purchase a chronological study Bible for a while, and when it went on sale, I took advantage. This is a great study tool. I am a teaching elder at my church, and I have recently begun a series on the gospel of Matthew. It is very helpful to see the chronological context of Jesus' ministry and miracles. It brings a wonderful degree of clarity to Bible study. I was also pleasantly surprised by the depth and insight of the notes. This was truly a very good purchase.
