Customer Reviews for Alpha Omega Publications Weaver Curriculum, Volume 1

Alpha Omega Publications Weaver Curriculum, Volume 1

Written by a veteran homeschooling mother of three, and built on the solid foundation of God's Word, each installment of this widely trusted curriculum is jam-packed with everything you need to teach your children at home. You'll find comprehensive, age-appropriate lesson plans for Bible, Social Studies, Science, Language Arts, Health, Safety, Field Trips, Vocabulary, Art, and Memory Verses, which are also used for Penmanship. All are custom-designed to be used in a Christian homeschool environment with kids aged 4 to 18! The program is designed so that any of the five volumes can be used for any number of students in K through 6th grades. Color-coded grade level divisions enable the parent/teacher to measure the academic progression of each child. It should take about one year to complete each volume. The Day by Day Planner is extremely helpful to anyone who is using this curriculum. Wisdom Words, a step-by-step guide to teaching grammar and composition, available from Weaver, is highly recommended to accompany this curriculum as well. Math, Grammar and Phonics not included in this curriculum.

This was a wonderful purchase with lots of great IDEAS.
CONS: Since it is just a printed notebook with pages that were reproduced and does not contain any student work books I feel that the value was not very good for the money. I have to locate books for each lesson and go online to find worksheets to correlate with the lessons. I also have to add my own Math curriculum. I was also disappointed that I purchased this curriculum in 2012 and received a cassette tape instead of a compact disk. I have not been able to locate a cassette tape player so I have no idea what the cassette tape contains.
PROS: I do love that I can teach my two children (K & 2nd) the same lessons on their level (though I will have to supplement with worksheets for my 2nd Grade student). Mostly I LOVE that this curriculum uses the Bible as the main lesson plan.

The Weaver holds a treasure of fun, adventure, and learning! I am amazed at how much I learned right along with the kids. One of the most awesome things about the Weaver is the balance that it strikes between organization and flexibility. It's organized fun!! The children really learn how to research and learn for themselves. Oh, and the Wisdom Words language book makes teaching english, grammer, and writing a breeze. Finally, a way of learning that makes sense!!!

I am in my 5th year of homeschooling and have FINALLY found something I LOVE! I only home school 2 and have searched for something that they enjoy as much as I do and this is IT! The ideas for field trips, discussions that ensue from the Bible lessons and the writing make this worth while. If you are looking for a way to tie all of the subjects together, this is the way to go. If you are looking for help in keeping two different age groups the same thing, get this product. It has made my life so much easier. The "Day by Day" keeps everything in line and keeps it all organized for you. I can't believe how much easier it has been for me this year and they have learned so much in such a short time.

After 7 years homeschool 4 boys with Alpha Omega Lifepacs & Switched on Schoolhouse, we needed a change. Oldest 2 now in h.s. and left with 3rd and 5th grader. Our 5th grader had a terrible prior year and only worked to get done - retaining and enjoying next to nothing. Read a lot about this program and chatted with online Weaver employee through Alpha Omega. Convinced it was worth at least a year. Now more than half way through Vol. 1, I wish I had found this long ago!! Wonderful, Bible-centered, hands on program that the boys love. Very well-planned out and great suggestions for projects, art, experiments, cooking, etc. We do utilize our library system greatly and the boys love that aspect. Well worth the money and continuing in the future!

I started homeschooling three years ago with the Weaver. The last two years I used another curriculum after finding many other moms in my area went with another program. Was I ever sorry. After struggling through the other curriculum and dealing with mid-year burn out, I went back to the Weaver. I H.S. my own five children and two additional children. They range in age from four to fourteen. We all love the Weaver. It saves me sooooo much time too! I have also noted my kids all have exceptional writing skills when compared to other kids in my homeschool group. This curriculum is a blessing to my family.
