Thomas Nelson Sunday Best, Serenity Series #8

Serenity still has questions about the Bible and how it is supposed to apply to everyday modern life. Specifically her life, which is anything but 'everyday' and 'modern'! Spurred on by her questions, she visits Lori's church, but she comes closest to real answers as part of a clean-up crew after some local flooding. When Serenity is trapped underwater and finds she has nowhere to turn, will her cry for help be heard in time to save her?

The movie (actually the second half of the book) is an action/disaster film called 'Crawling from the Wreckage', and features the kids playing against stereotype. Serenity plays the big sister looking for her brothers (played by Kimberly's brothers) in the wreckage of a mall in the aftermath of an earthquake. Kimberly plays the leader of a local gang, and when they clash inside the slowly crumbling building the struggle could endanger them all! Recommended for ages 14 and up.

The story line was good and it had a great meaning for Believers and non. One note though: These books are for young adults who go to any kind of public schools. For home schoolers this will be an I opener. Hopefully this will give you a burden to pray for them instead of gossiping about them.

Both my 11 year old son and 8 1/2 year old daughter absolutely love the Serenity books. They read and reread them several times.
