Thomas Nelson Choosing Change, Serenity Manga Series #9

Her obsession with Derek is pushing Serenity to the breaking point, so she does what anyone would do - she sets up a date with another boy. Eddie is the lucky (?) guy, but he's struggling with the same issues, and not always winning the war. Can all their expectations for their night out be unrealized and yet be a success? Even though she's still confused about many things, her friends are still accommodating to her journey of faith...which just might come to an end after she tells them all about the depth of her confusion!

The movie (actually the second half of the book) is a biblical epic called 'Esther, Queen of Persia', with Serenity in the feature role. Based loosely on the first half of the Old Testament story of Esther, recently deposed Queen Vashti (played by Kimberly) tries to end the reign of newly chosen Queen Esther. Can Esther stay true to her Jewish roots while living in the courts of a pagan king? Recommended for ages 14 and up.

I bought these books for my 13 year old daughter. She loves the "manga" style, but she loved more the Christian based stories. Unfortunately, she read through all 10 books in about a week, and we had to find something else for her to read. She cant wait to read the next series! She said the stories were funny and captivating, and close to how school really is.

The story line was good and it had a great meaning for Believers and non. One note though: These books are for young adults who go to any kind of public schools. For home schoolers this will be an I opener. Hopefully this will give you a burden to pray for them instead of gossiping about them.

We need more Christian Manga series that are appropriate for our youth to read. This is a great series and my daughter loves it.

Both my 11 year old son and 8 1/2 year old daughter absolutely love the Serenity books. They read and reread them several times.
