This series is amazing and teaches practical, biblical, and engaging ways of dealing with some very common issues that all women face...I should say all people face...this study could be for men & women...it's that good...love that it has lot's of teaching opportunities along with full participation of the group members...the DVD's are short but concise and if you follow the leaders guide recommendations, each lesson comes alive. Love the conversation cards and so did my group...I will be doing this again.

We are enjoying this study in our Ladies group at church. The main problem we have is the print is on such a weird paper and the color used for the print makes it so that all words are hard to read. Our older ladies have a really hard time. The color used was not thought out, a person must really struggle to read most of the book. The content is good, as is the DVD.

I was very excited to have the chance to review the DVD/Book study “Stuck”. There seems to be a lack of women’s bible studies for groups that are actually engaging the struggles of Christian women. Jennie Allen goes right into the practical, past the “right answer” remarks, to address the sort of things that hold us back in our lives of faith.
This kind of study can be intimidating for small group leaders to lead, but the leaders guide really does a great job of equipping you with not only the topics, but how different people can best be lead to a place where they can engage with hard topics. This is the kind of teaching that can help not only lead this study, but every other study, and all the more as you learn more about the people in your group.
The session dealing with “discontent” was a great highlight. Addressing how we naturally get into patterns of discontent in our lives, wanting...something (sometimes not even knowing what it is we think we want). It focuses on the biblical truth of how God is calling us to something much greater. When we get free of this desire for more, no matter if it is for more “stuff”, a different body image, or whatever else, we start becoming ready for God’s larger purposes that he desires for us.
No matter who you are, there is something that seems to engage with where you are in this study, with issues of fear, anger, overloaded, dealing with sadness and more. It does not condemn you, but points you towards something far greater, God and his promises. And it does it in a way that isn’t just pretending one easy answer will fix everything. This study will not fix everyone’s problems, but it will certainly help you get on the right path for getting unstuck with God’s help.

I was so excited to receive this small group Bible Study to review. It is very nicely packaged, and I love how everything is laid out so clearly…you know exactly what materials to use when. On a practical level, this study is great because each session can be gone through rather quickly if your group is short on time, or you can really dig into it and really get a lot out of each session. On a spiritual level, this is a much needed study of the ways woman get caught up in everyday life problems and end up “stuck” there, unable to pursue the life God has planned for them. I believe many women will benefit from this study and would recommend it to small woman’s Bible study groups. My favorite feature of this set is the discussion cards. Often the biggest hurdle in Bible study groups is getting everyone engaged in the discussion, and these cards are the perfect catalyst to make that happen. A wonderful resource! I received this Bible study from the publisher in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

This was a fantastic study for my ladies’ group right now. Almost all of us struggle with being totally open with each other, even though we’ve been meeting together for a couple of years now.
I love how the Stuck DVD Study is flexible in how long each session can take. You can make this study work for your group whether you meet for only an hour at a time or for a few hours. I really liked the conversation cards included with the study. These are a big help when group members might be hesitant about where to start the discussion.
We did find the layout a little bit confusing at first, but I think that’s because we didn’t have an appointed leader in our group to oversee the study; we ran through it blind as we went. Once we got used to the format it ran much more smoothly.
This study touches on struggles that I think most women encounter but aren’t really talked about a lot in fear that we will appear weak. Overall, I would recommend this study for women’s small groups.

Everyone gets ‘stuck’ at one time or another. We get bogged down in our daily lives by commitments, discontentment, and emotions. Sometimes we don’t even realize how stuck we are until we reach that critical moment in our lives when it suddenly feels like ‘it’s all too much!’
Enter the Stuck study by Jennie Allen, which focuses on the “places we get stuck & the God who sets us free.” Similar to the grieving process, the process of getting unstuck involves coming full circle with our emotions – working our way from feeling broken, mad, discontent, scared, overwhelmed, and sad to getting our selves unstuck. In a series of eight lessons, Jennie shows us how to get honest with - and build trust in - God in order to fix what is not working in our lives. Even with a Master’s degree in theology, Jennie addresses her audience in a close, sit-down, mom-to-mom kind of way that is easy to relate to.
Although designed for small groups, the full impact of the Stuck study is not lost on those who wish to participate on an individual basis. As Jennie points out, “the goal of this study is to dig deep into Scripture and uncover how it applies to your life.” Whatever approach you take – introspectively or within the community of a group – Stuck provides participants with sound, straightforward perspective on allowing God to into our busy, crazy lives. What Stuck is not is a ‘quick fix’ method of solving problems. Rather, what you get out of it is what you put into it. Take time to do the work and study the Bible and in time you will get unstuck.
Each lesson involves watching a short, 10-15 minute video, working through the study questions and four application projects assigned to each lesson, and engaging in discussion (or reflection) using thought-provoking discussion cards in each of the ‘stuck’ areas.
From the perspective of a mom, Stuck is a wonderful study that has much relevance for the issues faced by today’s busy mom. The lessons are short, yet focused; packing a powerful punch to those of us feeling the pressure to be more or do more than what seems humanly possible.

What a great women's study! It comes with the DVD with the 8 session - one of those is an introduction. When Jennie was talking she was pretty much talking about me! There will be so many women in the world who will do this study and feel the exact same way. How great is it that we don't have to feel alone, and here is a great resource to help us through issues we hold onto.
I love the question cards, the questions help to start conversations and the questions don't seem to be over the top too personal.
I am currently studying to become a Salvation Army Officer (Pastor) and I cannot wait until I can use this for the women's ministry. I am also going to recommend that our college library get it so that is can be used in other corps (Salvation Army Churches).
This is a must have study for any women's ministry groups!

I was provided with a copy of Stuck by Jennie Allen free of charge from Thomas Nelson in return for my honest review. Wow was I blown away by this one. I have attended many small group series. Not many of them are as moving, thought provoking as this one. In the box you are provided with a leaders guide, participants guide, DVD, and cards. After reading the introduction and getting to know Jenni Allen's layout, I was prepared to listen to the first section. I must state that I did this study by myself, but it would be an excellent women's study (or a man's for that matter). Each of the lessons are a short quick blurp. During these sessions Jennie changes scenes/ locations to relate with what she is talking about. These are short and fairly easy to follow. It will cause a lot of thoughts to go off through your head. Then to follow up each session there is questions in the guide. There is also "projects" to do. These projects range from drawing a picture to filling in scale to finding your strengths in weaknesses. The discussion cards look like excellent ice breaker cards or to use in a group, but I didn't read all of them or use them in a group.
I would say this study is an excellent, quick study that will remind you where your relationship is with God. I really enjoyed the participants guide the most. I really liked the Bible verses that were assigned for the chapters and then the projects. It wasn't all based on talking and getting other peoples feedback. It was your own experience.

My review on Stuck a dvd based study:
Synopsis:
“We are often so stuck in invisible struggles in our hearts and minds, we barely have space for God. These deep struggles, these stuck places, are familiar to every one of us: brokenness, anger, discontentment, fear, and sadness. Stuck takes on these struggles within us so that we can encounter God. Because until we recognize that we are stuck and in need of God, we will miss what He has for us.
Jennie Allen's Bible studies are designed to draw women close to God and to each other. These shorter studies dig deep quickly, creating experiential conversations and allowing women to wrestle with Scripture in a deep and authentic way throughout the week.”-unknown
My review:
When I reviewed stuck a dvd based study I really enjoyed it a lot it had so much godly wisdom flowing from jennie because God was speaking through her it really made me think a lot about what God had been telling me about moving on from being stuck in places which He did not want me to be stuck at and it was a really deep study as well which helps you grow in your relationship with Jesus and in your faith as well.

This is one of those gems that lives up to its publisher's description, and then goes beyond! Wow! I loved every minute of Stuck... every minute, that is, except the DVD portion. Ugh. I recognize that different styles and personae speak to different people. Unfortunately Jennie Allen's delivery style happens to be one that I do not enjoy. It's that somewhat stereotypical, overly sincere, women's ministry persona. You know, the one that leaves you thinking "is she faking a faltering voice to seem more sympathetic, or is she really fighting tears... again?" Ugh.
Looking past the DVD portion of each unit, however, I absolutely love every remaining aspect of the Stuck program! The study guide questions elucidate for participants what their most "stuck" areas are, while the weekly activities help to create a plan for moving beyond the "stuck-ness," to a more fulfilling spiritual, and everyday, life. The conversation cards are the icing on the cake, adding a fun, interactive, dynamic component to the already wonderful program.
This program felt like a mix of Bible study, therapy, and hanging-with-the-gals-time. Engaging, spiritually enriching, and just plain fun. What more could you ask for?!
I received this study free from Thomas Nelson Publisher for the purpose of providing my honest review. I was not required to give a positive review.

The whole kit comes in this great, sturdy box, which includes a DVD, study guide, leader's guide, and conversation cards. The guides are a great size, small enough to fit in your purse and pack around all the time. It's an eight week study, designed for a small group, but flexible enough to be completed with almost any size of group. The subjects in this study deal with our relationship with the Lord and include being stuck, broken, mad, discontent, scared, overwhelmed sad and unstuck. All issues that we face in our everyday life and most of these issues are struggles we really don't care to admit. This is a truly exceptional study and is perfect for a group of any size, though it is geared for a group setting of 8. All the components work to together for a life-changing experience if we come to it with an open ready to be changed and released from the muck of life.

This is an 8 week study course for women that is beautifully packaged. Inside the box is a DVD with the 8 study videos, a Study Guide, promotional materials, and a leaders guide. Also a set of cards with practical application questions that help facilitate discussion.
My women's small group is so excited to be starting this series. We talked a bit about it and we all voiced that we've felt or even still feel stuck in our life in a variety of ways and wish to move past this. So, we're looking forward to embarking on this study and seeing where it takes us.

Book Sneeze Book Review: "Stuck" Bible Study
Since I began my experience as a book/resource reviewer for "Book Sneeze" (Thomas Nelson), I have not been as excited to receive a resource as the "Stuck" DVD based bible study. I was intrigued by the title, and I also lead Women's bible studies in my home so I knew I would request this resource as soon as it became available. I am so glad I did. "Stuck" gets my highest recommendation of any of the resources I have reviewed so far.
"Stuck's" author is Jennie Allen, and up to this point I had never even heard of her in the world of Women's Ministry. Well, I can tell you after reviewing "Stuck" I am sure Jennie Allen will be a new and upcoming leader/teacher in Women's Ministry. As I watched Jennie's teaching DVDs I fell in love with her teaching style. She is passionate, authentic and biblically sound. What more could you ask for in a teacher? (Well, I am sure there is more, but Jennie Allen will not disappoint you).
"Stuck" is set up as an 8 week DVD session study. The Bible study kit includes the 8 session DVD, a copy of the study guide (used for personal study), a leader's guide, and a set of conversation cards that coincide with the 8 weeks. The study guide is a bit different from some of the other studies I have done in the past, and that is a good thing. Jennie challenges her participants to dig deep into God's Word each week. After the "study" portion of the guide Jennie has included "projects" that are very interactive for each individual to complete. Each week's study maybe completed in one sitting, or one can break the study up and complete it in multiple settings.
The leader's guide is set up in a way that basically takes all the "work", or shall I say "fear" out of leading. Jennie walks her leaders right through the entire study so they can feel confident when they lead their own group of women through "Stuck".
My favorite part of this whole study are the "Conversation Cards" that Jennie has included in her study. Jennie has come up with multiple questions on each week's theme (IE: broken, mad, discontent, etc) and a weekly scripture to support each week's theme. She always wants to make sure that the final word on any subject comes from God, as it should be. In my experience, women love getting together and asking each other questions about life and their spiritual journeys. This study lends itself to going deep with your group if you choose that path. I think that is where true growth happens.
I think I should end my review here because honestly I could go on and on about how great this study is. I give it a 5 out of 5 stars. I will actually be beginning this study with a small group of women in my home very soon. Thank you Book Sneeze for providing this resource to me. I am ever so thankful.
(Book Sneeze provided "Stuck" to me complimentary and I in turn had to write a review).

This small group DVD-based study for women is quite good. Often these studies come about from a book and they don’t always translate well into a small group environment. This study, however, looks like it was designed specifically for small groups and therefore takes into consideration the relational component as well. The study guide is well done and seems to be just right – not too much that a woman would feel overwhelmed yet not too little that a woman wouldn’t feel challenged. As if often the case, the leader guide does little to help with the content but rather does more to aid in the scheduling of the group time. I also thought the DVD segments, though good, could have been a bit longer as most are only 5-7 minutes in length. In some groups this will be sufficient to get the ball moving while in other groups more effort may need to be made. Overall, I would recommend this study. The content is relevant to women and the study guide is manageable and beneficial.

Stuck is such a refreshing study. Jennie's transparency brings women of all ages to a place where they're forced to examine themselves and be vulnerable with others. I went through this study with my church and led it at a sorority house. Every week of the study, women were met with truth in places where they'd never before admitted they struggled. Many trusted Christ for the first time as they began to relate to their Christian peers and see how God had healed them through the places that they are stuck. Dealing with these specific issues in my own heart brought peace as I found victory in areas I didn't know victory was possible.
