I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm just starting with Apologia. But what an awesome surprise to see these when I got them. They were bigger, with more "things" inside for the activities and journaling and learning then I ever expected. I really thought they would be much simpler then they ended up being. I would definitely buy them again & recommend buying them if you use any Apologia.

We are using the Exploring Creation with Botany book this year along with My Father's World. The notebook was not included with the curriculum's package. After reading through my teacher's manual and looking online here I decided to order the notebook as it will make my job easier. I was impressed with it. Even though we don't do everything we could do in the notebook having it available makes it easier for my visually challenged son.

Having homeschooled 4 children, for over 10 years, I can confidently say, Apologia offers the best of science. We have completed Astronomy with my 3rd/4th grader and Biology(High School level) with my 8th graders prior to their entry to the local Christian High School. Apologia fully prepares students in all subjects, as the programs have them writing, narrating, experimenting and thinking critically. They are able to argue a position using science in support of The Creator. We have launched the oldest to college, pursuing a science-based degree. Her college text books all state, “Evolution is a fact”- plain and simple. Apologia is great preparation for science and fundamental in supporting a Biblical World View.
The notebook method keeps our children engaged, reviewing and retaining information. Experiments and projects have them looking forward to what comes next. We were in Astronomy while our friends were in Botany, and each of us was anxious to finish our books and swap because of the amazing experiments and projects the other was doing. We are so excited to start Botany!By all means, purchase the Notebooks. They are the best means to completing a lovely science journal, with puzzles, narration questions, cut-out full color books to assemble and write answers in, projects, project ideas and room for drawings and captions. My child has hands-down become a better WRITER because of Apologia. Best multi-disciplinary approach I have found. If you are limited on time (and who isn’t?) you will cover more subjects, more effectively, just by using Apologia daily. Just edit their writing together and you have reinforced spelling, grammar and punctuation rules. Some parents choose not to “critique” notebooks, but I have found it a very low-threat environment where my children strive to have a beautiful notebook to keep as a record. Apologia even includes a “schedule” in the notebook so you have a target to reach in getting through the program, whether it is quarterly, or over a year.

For a younger kid, this is excellent! My son is a bit older so not all of the activities will be use but still is worth the purchase.

Our daughters are enjoying the Botany Journals. Both our 7th grader and 9th grader use it with Exploring Creation with Botany. Our 9th grader supplements it with corresponding lessons from a 10th grade Biology book. Your student can do a lot of writing, recording, drawing, or a little....very versatile.

If you decide to go with the Apologia Botany program, definitely get this journal to go with it. It's a great program and my daughter is LOVING it. She dreaded science last year. This year, it's her favorite subject. I highly recommend it.

Having purchased the Botany textbook months ago, I was really excited to take a look at the Notebooking Journal. When I opened the box, I was pleasantly suprised by the appearance and high-quality of the journal. I was a little taken back by the size of the journal, there are many many activities inside. However, the author does suggest that trying to complete every activity in the book is not recommended. I appreciate having so many creative and fun activities to choose from. I'm using this science program for 3 kids in multiple grades, and I truly believe that the journal will make my job a lot easier. The set-up is perfect as I won't have to do a lot of dumbing-down for the younger kids. I'm so excited to get started.

I was so happy to get this book to go along with the text book. It is a great companion to the text instead of just making your own notebook.

The Botany text with accompanying notebooking journal is an excellent course. The casual narrative in the text makes is easy reading for your student, yet is still informative. I would hightly recommend the notebooking journal - it has many paper projects, along with crossword puzzles, and worksheets. The paper projects are just plain fun, and your student will enjoy making them as they learn about plant anatomy and physiology.

This "pre-outlined" notebook is very nice to go along with the textbook. I was very excited to see Jeanne included a lesson plan in the beginning of the notebook to work with us who have cold, snowy winters!

This seems to be a great accompaniment to the Botany textbook. My child is young and the added structure is a benefit to getting the most out of our textbook. There are added activities to do and more detailed explanations in this which we love.

The notebooking journal is a very pretty and neat way to keep the science activities together in one place. It is not a necessary item, because you could certainly create your own, but it is easier and more time-saving than creating your own. It's a nice supplementary help. One per child needed. Consumable.

This is worth the investment. You don't have to get anything together to notebook. The book provides a schedule to make lesson planning simple. We really like this because it saves time and makes a very nice record of our activities.

We have only completed the first lesson, but this notebook is fantastic. It outlines everything for you, so it is foolproof. My son is seven years old, so we do all the projects together. I do not really think it is set up for independent study, unless the child is older and motivated. My son went from saying that plants were boring to fascinating, in just one lesson. Good times!
