I don't think I have read a book by this author that I haven't liked. This book, however, is one of my favorites. It speaks to my heart.

One Shenandoah Winter by T. Davis Bunn

When I started reading this book I didnt think I would finish it. But as I continued reading my interest grew. Had to keep reading. Was like life in the hill-billy country. A small town in the hills that desperately needed a doctor. They finally located on who when he came was ready to turn around and go back to the big city. He brought a lot of anger with him. Seeing the simplicity of the doctors office and its many lacks, this made his anger show. He was ready to give up until the pastors baby couldnt stop crying, and couldnt keep his food down, drew his attention. Then little by little others came with health problems and he slowly continued thinking he wasnt going to stay here that long. He met Papa Joe, this is the old man who helped him come to a change of heart regarding the Lord, and his anger started to decrease. Much to learn from this book about life with the Lord, life itself, and how we should deal with situations. Loved Papa Joe, the whole town did. I highly recommend the reading of this book.

Connie Wilkes is the assistant mayor of Hillsboro, VA, an isolated town in the Appalatioan Mts. She is working hard to help the town with many economic owes, and has just managed to find a doctor for their clinic. Dr Reynolds turns out to be an angry man but a great doctor -- a perplexing & enigmatic person. Connie is also struggling with many regrets about past decisions, and worries about her old Uncle Joe. Heartwarming story of sacrifice & loss, redemption & hope.
