Shortly after my wife and I got married ten years ago, someone gave us a copy of The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. However, I only opened it up to read it in January of this year. My wife had started reading it a lot earlier than I did and my only regret is that I did not read it sooner.
This book delivers some excellent advice, and the what makes this book great is that it will work for any level of income. He covers the obstacles that stand in the way of financial success: denial, debt myths, money myths, ignorance, and keeping up with the Joneses.
He covers such topics as saving, buying cars, credit cards, student loans, and just about everything you can think of dealing with finances. The motto is IF YOU WILL LIVE LIKE NO ONE ELSE, LATER YOU CAN LIVE LIKE NO ONE ELSE.
I like the book because he gives a formula that works and one that does not cut out personal responsibility. And, Dave is a Christian, so he puts God first and recommends the same to his readers.
This book has been a great help to me. Although we are not debt free yet, we are working on it and although I don't know everything there is to know about finances we know a lot than we did thanks to this book!

My husband and I heard about Dave Ramsey and decided to check out a couple books from the library. We started reading and were hooked. We bought this book so we could have our own copy as we continue on our journey of financial fitness. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to change their life!

I received a gift copy of this book in August. Dave Ramsey has done a great job of providing a workable plan for getting out of debt, planning for the future, and diffusing relational conflict borne out of financial stress. Each chapter includes stories of persons who have struggled financially, how financial difficulties affected key relationships, and what they have done to turn around their financial picture. These stories allow the readers to acknowledge their own financial situations while providing a basis for hope for the future. While I am not an advocate of the use of debit cards, I think the book as a whole is filled with a great deal of sound financial wisdom. In this day and age, we can all use more financial wisdom. I have gifted more than forty copies of this book to family, friends, and small group members as a means of building into their relationships and their financial stability.

Everyone would benefit from reading this book. It contains a step by step plan on how to regain financial health that anyone could follow. The author is very clear and sites many examples to illustrate his points. I enjoyed reading it and am already starting the plan myself.

This author hits the nail on the head! If you are buried in debt, afraid and struggling GET THIS BOOK! It is a simple, well explained and common sense approach to getting out of, and staying out of, debt. If everyone lived this way, there would be no recession. After just 6 weeks it has already brought peace and assurance to our household.

Dave Ramsey tells it like it is! and he is funny as well as biblical about it. Step by step help, it gives you examples of typical scenarios of people/families who find themselves in a money crisis and then explains how to start getting out of it. Well written, my local library has 12 copies none of them were available because they were all checked out and there was a waiting list! I told myself the book is worth buying then!

If you follow his advice, you can get out of and stay out of debt. Just reading the book won't do it; you HAVE to apply his principles. I am in the process of paying of credit cards currently and hope to be out of debt in 7 years (except for a mortgage).

This was an eye opener. Book is easy to read, easy to understand and really helps you to see clearly the flaws in your finances. Gives you a new way of seeing things. I really enjoyed it. I read it once, decided to start the program, shared it with my husband, then read it again so I could take notes and highlight. I highly recommend it.
