James I of England is a study in paradox---he could be both a charming intellectual and a bawdy rascal. In this illustrated biography of James and the Bible that bears his name, Teems offers a human portrait of the king who gave us one of the most revered texts in the English language. 304 pages, softcover from Nelson.

Review 1 for Majestie: The King Behind the King James Bible
Date:April 7, 2012
I just finished reading Majestie By David Teems, and I must say it is a wonderful book. I read his book on Tyndale before this one, and while I like Tyndale better this book was one of the best books I've ever read. David seems to be able to transport you back in history to experience the things he describes. Anyone who wants a better understanding of church history as well as a better appreciation of the English Bible, this is a must read. I can only hope Mr. Teems comes out with another biography in the future.

Better than expected

Majestie was more than a history book-it was an inside look at the life and court of King James, the religious climate of the times and much more. A very good read.
