It is the biblical command in Proverbs 23:13 that the author of this straightforward book holds up as a guide for all parents who experience doubt and indecision in their roles as disciplinarians. The advice in this helpful guide, in contrast with modern psychology, points the way to strict parental discipline. The duties of a Christian parent are clearly outlined and always presented from a scriptural viewpoint. Each of the thirteen chapters in this practical book contains "review" and "response" questions, making it an ideal tool for either group study or personal development.

I have never read a book on discipline like this one...it really captures the heart and purpose of biblical discipline.

I read this 20 years ago, when I was a new parent and had one young child. I now have five great children, respectful, obedient; they love their parents, they love the lord. We put these principles into practice. They were biblical -- that was the most important thing. Our Savior has been gracious and blessed that. I think this is the most helpful book in parenting. I cannot more highly recommend it than a life of parenting experience that has proved the truths of God's word, a teacher of children in a private school, and a Pastor who tries to teach others how to help raise their children for Him.
