I really enjoy reading Spurgeon. I was a prideful Arminian, who for most of my life, thought I was the keeper of myself. I falsely believed that salvation was a little of my merit and a little of Christ merit, until I started reading Spurgeon. I've come to realize that our preseverance is the reality that God is keeping us and not that we maintain our justification by our good works. That we don't earn or maintain salvation by works, but that God saved us for good works. That God is the author and finisher of true faith. I owe everything to the Spirit of God, which used Spurgeon to bring the gospel message of salvation by grace alone through faith.
