I had read Dr. Kendall's books on forgiveness, Joseph, jealousy, being thankful. Those books I would heartily recommend to anyone. This book, I do NOT. The chapter on 'unhappy marriages' made me very sad, upset and angry. Mine was a verbal/emotionally abusive marriage, that lasted 28 years, until I left him and got a divorce. I did not, nor do I consider an abusive marriage a 'thorn in the flesh' to bring you to a deeper life with God. It was, at best misery, at worst, life that made me want to kill myself, end it all; when I wasnt being threatened to be killed by him! I would say, that Dr. Kendall has had NO experience with domestic violence victims/survivors of domestic violence. I am still forgiving God (subject of one of his books), for 'allowing' my ex to do and say what he did. I am still dealing with the wounds my ex inflicted on my spirit, my feelings and my mind. The rest of the book was worthwhile reading.

I gave this book to several friends at work, they were so glad to get it. Great book.
