Hendrickson Publishers Holiness: Its Nature, Hindrances, Difficulties, and Roots

Anglican bishop Ryle was convinced that true holiness is not simply a matter of believing and feeling, but of practical doing. As relevant today as it was 130 years ago, his biblically based masterpiece focuses on the daily details and difficulties of holy living and exhorts believers to strive after sanctification, not passively wait for it. 418 pages, softcover from Hendrickson.

Outside of the Bible, this is the only book over 400 pages I have ever read. Practical Religion by JC Ryle will be my next. Holiness Written in 1877 is timeless because it speaks of the Love and Gace of God and how we must fight to embrace these gifts and in return glorify God with our lives. It also speaks of How sin holds us back, that there is a cost to our love of the world and our selfishness. And that is only two of the chapters. The book also has a short biography.--"True holiness does not consist merely of believing and feeling, but of doing and bearing" JC Ryle

What a timeless masterpiece! A transcendent work by great saint. The opening chapter on sin is one of the best I've read. Compares easily with works by Pink who I also admire and read. Chapter after chapter of understandable exposition for the young and mature, with brilliant application. This will help your walk with Christ! Recommend it highly!
