This is a beautiful, well-made Bible! The 10-point font seems larger than that because of the bold, crisp printing.

This "Thinline" Bible is thinner than most large-print Bibles; however, it is also wider and longer than the others. This larger, thinner format makes it fall open and lay flat very nicely. The drawback of the large format is that it's significantly heavier because the cover is larger. If you read with your Bible on a table or in your lap, this won't be a problem. If you like to hold it in your hands while reading or are sharing the gospel with someone while standing, the heft of this Bible does quickly become apparent.

There are 8 colorful maps, an excellent 69-page concordance, and other supplements at the back. The reference/parallel verses at the end of most paragraphs are also very helpful.

The cover is soft and smooth -- it feels like high-quality leather. The lettering on the cover and spine is stamped without any gilding/embossing added. The pages are edged in silver. The ribbon marker is pastel pink (for the chocolate/pink edition).

My husband and I wanted to take a Bible to a man at a resort in Jamaica that we frequent. Upon inquiry of Bible version, several more employees wanted a Bible as well. After looking on CBD, we settled on this KJV Bible. Although it says Large Print, to me it is just right and I would not want anything smaller. It is not a mini-Bible but is what size you are probably thinking of in a Bible. The coloring is beautiful and the material is not cheap feeling. It seems like a much more costly binding. Before taking them on our trip, I showed the Bible to my Mom and a friend of hers. Both of them oohed and aahed over the Bible and said that was something they really liked even though both of them have numerous Bibles each. The pages are very nice and not too thin.

The people in Jamaica were thrilled with the reference materials such as the maps and sections for verses on specific needs (such as "sadness-read these verses", etc.). They had never seen a Bible before in their lives with any kind of reference items and they liked the "end of verse" Bible references.

I would recommend this Bible, especially because it comes in other colors.

I like the large print, thin line version and the ability to choose your color for the cover! The price was good also.

I purchased this beautiful Bible as a symbol of new beginnings and a new understanding of God's word upon my life. I thought the price was very reasonable as was the cost of having my name printed on the beautiful cover.

The Hendrickson Large Print is a budget model (printed in China) Bible that has features not found in premium Bibles.

    Pros

    - 9/10-point font that's clear and readable

    - Headings in the text in bold type

    - End-of-verse references

    - Imitation leather looks and feels great

    - Sewn binding lays flat

    Cons

    - Paper lining makes binding slightly stiff

    - Basic concordance

    - No index to maps

    Binding

The cover is imitation leather. It is two-tone blue and grey and has stitching around the edges. It looks very nice and it feels good to the touch.

The most impressive feature is the sewn binding. A sewn binding is a 'must-have' in my opinion and I was not expecting a sewn binding at this price-point. The map section has sewn stitching (called overcasting).

    Text

The text is a 9-point font with 10-point leading. It's a very readable modern font. It is not self-pronouncing. It does have italics for words supplied by the translators.

The red-letter is actually red. It's not too bold. It's just as readable as the black-letter text. It's one of the nicest red-letter texts that I've seen.

There are plenty of section headings to break up the text into sections. The headings are in bold print, just as the verse numbers are.

    Paper

The paper is about what you expect in this price-range. It's not acid-free. It's fairly thick and does have slight ghosting, but it's not that bad- just noticeable. It's more opaque than many slimline Bibles.

    References

The references are at the end of the verses. They have a smaller font than the regular text. I like end-of-verse references because they are easier to find. Although the references are not keyed to the text, so there's no way to know which portion of the verse the references go to.

    Special Features

The special features include key Bible promises, harmony of the gospels, miracles in the OT, parables in the OT, miracles in the NT, parables in the NT, and concordance.

The concordance is 70 pages, in two-column and large print, so it's just basic. It has 12 entries for 'God'. It's typical for this price range. It has the same font as the text so it is easy to read.

    Maps

There are eight pages of full-color maps. There is no index to the maps, but the maps are printed on thick, glossy paper and they look nice.

    Conclusion

Hendrickson Large Print Thinline is one of the nicest texts that I've seen. It is very readable. The end-of-verse references do not distract from reading and they are much easier to find quickly than other reference formats. The headings in the text are unusual for Bible that is not considered a 'study Bible'. It's great reading and carry Bible. I highly recommend Hendrickson's Large Print Thinline KJV.
