Customer Reviews for The True Saint Nicholas: Why He Matters to Christmas
Review 1 for The True Saint Nicholas: Why He Matters to Christmas
Tells about the life of Nicholas (Part 1), legends about him that sprang up later (Part 2) and how he became Santa Clause (Part 3). Very informative and quite fascinating. This is a great book. My only criticisms are it is not written from a strictly Christian perspective and it is pretty small for the price. Still, a fantastic book.

Review 2 for The True Saint Nicholas: Why He Matters to Christmas
Date:November 23, 2009
This is an excellent work on the great Christmas saint. It gives plenty of basic biographical information (despite sources that are admittedly scanty) and plenty of legends that sprang up as a result of his good works, especially helping the poor through secret gift giving. It explains how he became a world-wide figure of inspiration and respectability (what we would now call a "super-star") and influenced many to follow his example. It's a fine resource of information for parents seeking to explain the origins and evolution of Santa Claus to their children in a very reader-friendly format. It's recommended leisure reading both for the holiday season and year-round.
