Thomas Nelson Skin - eBook

A freak storm that spawned three tornadoes bears down on the town of Summerville. Yet under cover of the storm looms a much more ominous threat: a vindictive killer known as Red who's left a string of victims in his wake and is now bent on exacting his revenge on the unsuspecting citizens.

But an enigma surrounds Red that the FBI is unwilling to admit - closely guarded secrets of something gone terribly wrong beneath the skin of Summerville, secrets capable of destroying far more than one small town.

Wendy Davidson is caught in the middle. The recovering cult survivor takes refuge in Summerville on her way to visit her estranged mother. And with her, four strangers, any one of whom could be the next victim...or the killer. 400 pages, hardcover from WestBow.

Ted Dekker is an amazing author. His writing is both intriguing and suspenseful. However I had a hard time reading his book in good conscience. Yes, it is a book about a serial killer and it does have some gory parts which is clearly stated on the book's cover. But what bothered me is that the killer wanted to kill the ugliest, which meant not only on the outside but also on the inside. Sin makes you ugly is basically what it's saying, yet nowhere in the book does it tell you how you can become beautiful. That really bothered me. I was really confused on what this book was trying to tell me or what "lesson" I was supposed to take from it. I really didn't get what Dekker was trying to do. As a Christian, this isn't a book I'll read again. I'm rating it a 1 1/2 stars for the creative writing and for it's creative twists, but not for the REAL meaning of the book.

Definitely not what I expected, but when I started reading it I couldn't put it down. I was never sure where the author was taking us. Even at the end I was left wondering, "Could it be...". I'm a suspense novel fan and love Frank Perretti style fiction. Now I've added Dekker to my list of favorite authors. Skin is definitely worth buying.

Another great book by Ted;how does he do it? All of his books are so different. No cliches whatsoever. Such a good read.
