The Baptists have been one of the fastest-growing branches of Christianity since the Reformation. Bebbington, scholar par excellence, clarifies the roots and distinctives of the movement, the ways it has expanded over the centuries, and how it has interacted with such issues as slavery, the social gospel, and religious liberty. Solid and balanced. 327 pages, softcover. Baylor University.

Review 1 for Baptists through the Centuries: A History of a Global People
This book put so much of Baptist history in prospective for me I only wish I could have sat in on the course where this book was being used. It is set up in topical and historical order a true joy to read with a smooth flow. If your Baptist or even if your not this book deserves a place on your shelf after being read and read again.
